Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Koji Kobayashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tomi Rajala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Koji Kobayashi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tomi Rajala! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shirou Masuda and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No joy there for Kobayashi, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kobayashi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rajala as he avoids it easily. Rajala gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Rajala gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Kobayashi regains guard.
Kobayashi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Rajala looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Rajala must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Rajala connects with a couple of short punches. Kobayashi has a loose triangle. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kobayashi has momentary wrist control but Rajala slips an elbow through the middle. Rajala preventing the sweep. Rajala tries to free his leg and advance position but Kobayashi is retaining full guard. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Rajala passes into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rajala blocks the strikes from Kobayashi.

Rajala cracks Kobayashi with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Tomi Rajala seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kobayashi connects with a vicious head kick that knocks Rajala to the floor! Kobayashi dives in looking for the finish!

Rajala manages to control the position for a moment. Rajala seems to have recovered his senses. Rajala slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Tomi Rajala showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Rajala is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Kobayashi Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Rajala's back instead. Kobayashi is looking to control Rajala but Rajala is wriggling around and keeping busy. Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Kobayashi.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Rajala is thwarting Kobayashi's attempts to control the position. Rajala controlling the action here. Let's hope that Rajala has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Despite being in the dominant position, Tomi Rajala just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Kobayashi tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Rajala swats away the attempt to clinch by Kobayashi. Kobayashi looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rajala is fending him off so far but Kobayashi persists. Nope, Rajala circles away and we're back to standing. Rajala scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Rajala staying calm.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kobayashi wants to control but Rajala postures up. Kobayashi is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Kobayashi tries to buck Rajala off but Rajala is having none of it. Rajala working away. Kobayashi is trying to get back to half guard.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Rajala gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Kobayashi counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Kobayashi lands strikes from half guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Rajala is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. This has been an exciting period of action! Rajala gets full guard. Koji Kobayashi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Rajala pulls Kobayashi in to control the position.
