Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daisuke Suzuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Neal Monnelli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Monnelli has chosen Legenda - Where the Devils Dance as his entrance music. Daisuke Suzuki could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Neal Monnelli's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Daisuke Suzuki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Neal Monnelli! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Sosuke Kotani and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Suzuki is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Monnelli's half guard. Monnelli is refusing to be controlled, as Suzuki sits in half guard. Monnelli tries to roll over but Suzuki keeps him under control. Monnelli looking for submissions off his back. Suzuki is looking to take a break and control but Monnelli is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Suzuki is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Monnelli is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Suzuki looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Suzuki wants to free his trapped foot but Monnelli is holding on for dear life with his legs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Monnelli trying to control here.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Monnelli bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Suzuki wants to control but Monnelli postures up. Monnelli tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Monnelli swings around for an armbar but Suzuki sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Monnelli's guard. Suzuki wants to pass the guard but Monnelli is keeping the position. Suzuki trying to control the position from guard on top but Monnelli is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Suzuki has his takedown stuffed and Monnelli counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Suzuki's guard now. Suzuki is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Suzuki looking for a sweep. Not yet Suzuki, not yet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Suzuki has Monnelli pulled in close to control his posture. Monnelli stopping the sweep attempt from Suzuki. Monnelli looking to pass the guard. Monnelli works a leg free and moves into half guard. Suzuki is looking to control Monnelli's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Suzuki avoid being mounted? Suzuki slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Suzuki is trying to control the position but Monnelli postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Monnelli drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Suzuki manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Monnelli has Suzuki in his guard. Monnelli is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Monnelli is trying to control the position but Suzuki postures up. Monnelli keeping moving, preventing Suzuki from controlling successfully. Monnelli wants to sweep but no luck. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Neal Monnelli dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Suzuki has his takedown stuffed and Monnelli counters with a nice double leg into guard. Suzuki is pulling down on Monnelli's head. It's preventing any offense from Monnelli, at least for the moment. Suzuki keeping moving, preventing Monnelli from controlling successfully. Monnelli passes into half guard. Suzuki wants to control but Monnelli passes into side.
Monnelli tries to move to mount but Suzuki blocks the move with his legs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Monnelli tries for a kimura but Suzuki is defending well. Suzuki manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Suzuki wants to improve his position but Monnelli is controlling well.

Monnelli has gone for a leg lock! Suzuki slips out almost immediately though and dives into Monnelli's guard. Suzuki wants to pass the guard but Monnelli is keeping the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Monnelli is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Suzuki not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Monnelli trying to control the position.
Monnelli tries to land a sweep but no joy. Suzuki pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Monnelli is keeping the position for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Monnelli wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Suzuki stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Monnelli swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Suzuki has picked Monnelli up and slammed him! Monnelli can't keep hold of the triangle and Suzuki manages to pass to side control! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Suzuki wants to lay and pray for a moment but Monnelli keeps working. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Suzuki is trying to get an arm triangle but Monnelli is defending well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Neal Monnelli will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Suzuki with a poor takedown and Monnelli counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Monnelli is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Suzuki gets full guard. Monnelli wants to control from the top but Suzuki keeps moving. Monnelli wants to pass the guard but Suzuki is keeping the position. Suzuki might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Monnelli pushes down on Suzuki's leg and manages to get into half guard. Monnelli trying to pass the guard but Suzuki defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Monnelli is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Suzuki is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Suzuki has escaped and now he's on top! Monnelli keeping full guard, as Suzuki tries to pass. Monnelli is looking to sweep but instead, Suzuki has passed into half guard.
Suzuki is working for a kimura but Monnelli is defending it quite comfortably.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Suzuki is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Monnelli sees it coming and defends easily. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Suzuki stalling away here and it's allowed Monnelli to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Neal Monnelli has got the better of the ground game so far. Monnelli is trying to keep Suzuki in close.

Suzuki wants to take a breather but Monnelli is having none of it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Monnelli is defending against the submission attempts here by Suzuki.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Monnelli keeping his opponent close.
And that's the end of the fight! Neal Monnelli comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Monnelli has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
