PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Heppa Tytsy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alkaline Solo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Solo's choice of entrance music: Radio. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Heppa Tytsy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alkaline Solo!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tytsy throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Tytsy.
Tytsy fails with an attempt to clinch.

Solo feints and as Tytsy raises his hands in defense, Solo changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Solo wants to control from the top but Tytsy keeps moving.
Solo postures up in Tytsy's guard and throws a big left but Tytsy blocks it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tytsy is wriggling around but Solo manages to pass to half guard.
Tytsy is trying to get back to full guard.
Solo moves nicely into side control.
Tytsy sneaks back into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Solo is controlling the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Solo is thwarting Tytsy's attempts to control the position.
Solo wants to stand up but Tytsy has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Solo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Tytsy defends it well.

Solo seems to be working for a kimura but Tytsy defends the submission attempt.
Solo looks gassed!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Solo wants to take a breather but Tytsy is having none of it.
Solo stops Tytsy from getting back to his feet.

Solo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Tytsy defends it well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Tytsy shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Tytsy was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
A nice elbow there by Tytsy.
Solo is looking to improve his position but Tytsy isn't that keen on the idea.
Tytsy looking to control and managing it successfully.
Solo takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Tytsy tries to control but Solo wriggling away.
Solo can't escape the position.
Tytsy lands a big shot there that rocks Solo but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Solo is trying to reverse the position but instead Tytsy has taken his back - oops!
Solo just looking to survive in the bad position.
Solo trying to control but not successfully.

Solo manages to get to his feet, escaping the difficult position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tytsy misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Tytsy ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Solo moves away.
Nice takedown defense from Tytsy. No joy for Solo on that attempt.
Tytsy shoots and misses

so Solo counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Solo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Solo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Solo trying to control the position from guard on top but Tytsy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Tytsy lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Solo!

A close round but Alkaline Solo will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Tytsy misses with a takedown

and Solo counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Tytsy working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Solo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Solo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Solo is standing up over Tytsy. Tytsy looks to escape but Solo dives into side control.
Solo tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Solo tries for a kimura but Tytsy is defending well.
Tytsy gets back to half guard.
Solo tries to pass the half guard into mount. Tytsy knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Tytsy pushes Solo off and gets back to his feet.
Tytsy shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Solo counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Tytsy keeping moving, preventing Solo from controlling successfully.
Solo thows a big elbow that misses.
Solo slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Solo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Tytsy knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Solo moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Tytsy tries to buck Solo off but Solo is having none of it.
Solo happy to just control the position for now.
Solo trying to control the action but Tytsy is working from the bottom.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Tytsy fails in his attempt to clinch.
Solo looks to score with a jab to the body but Tytsy is just out of range.

Solo clinches with his opponent.

Solo drags the fight down to the ground.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alkaline Solo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Tytsy shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Solo moves out of range as Tytsy strikes.
Solo checks a low kick from Tytsy.
Solo misses with a takedown attempt
and Tytsy counters with a flying knee. Nice.

Solo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Solo is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Tytsy has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Tytsy takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Solo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Alkaline Solo has got the better of the ground game so far.
Solo's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Solo landing punches.
Solo content just to control the position here.
Tytsy has given up his back here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Solo is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Tytsy turns into Solo and is now in his guard.
Tytsy trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Tytsy lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Tytsy slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Tytsy has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Tytsy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Solo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Solo keeping moving, preventing Tytsy from controlling successfully.
Tytsy wants to pass the guard but Solo is keeping the position.
Solo has momentary wrist control but Tytsy slips an elbow through the middle.
Tytsy pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Solo is keeping the position for now.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Solo has a takedown stuffed.

Tytsy scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Solo controlling the position for now.
Solo gets back to full guard.

Solo wriggles free and stands up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Solo.
Tytsy tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Solo wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Heppa Tytsy has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Solo tries to advance to mount but Tytsy denies him.

And that's the end of the fight!
Alkaline Solo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Solo winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
