1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ernesto Suarez! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Thiago Cunha and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ryan is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Ryan tries to clinch up but Suarez circles away and keeps his distance. Suarez fails with the takedown. Ryan tries to clinch up. Ryan tries to clinch but Suarez is having none of it. Suarez drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Suarez throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Suarez is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ryan is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. That's one minute gone in the round. Suarez goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Ryan has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Suarez but great work by Ryan. Suarez is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Ryan with a jab. Ryan moves in looking to clinch but Suarez pushes him off. Suarez fails with a takedown attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ryan stuffs the takedown. Jeffrey Ryan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ernesto Suarez. Ryan tries to clinch up. Ryan sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Suarez to the ground! Ryan dives into full mount looking to finish!

Suarez seems to have recovered his senses. Ryan is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent. Suarez can't escape the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Suarez is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ryan's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ryan's back! Ryan showing good submission defense here.
Suarez working for the choke. Suarez tries to get the hooks in deep but Ryan pushed the leg off. Suarez is looking for the choke from the back position but Ryan is controlling his hands well. Ryan is trying to get back to his feet but Suarez has full control of the position and if anything, Ryan has just worked his way into a worse spot.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Suarez has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Suarez's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Suarez lands an elbow to the side of the head. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Suarez is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Ryan up.

Suarez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. An elbow from Suarez crashes against the mat.
Suarez thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Suarez throws an elbow but Ryan slips to the side and avoids it well. Ryan stops Suarez from passing to mount. The strikes coming from Suarez are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Suarez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ryan keeps working. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

He has the arm isolated but Ryan is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Ryan is not content to let Suarez control the position. Suarez has hold of Ryan's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Ryan tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Suarez cranks the arm and Ryan screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Ryan, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
