Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kazuo Takeda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roberto Fantastico (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kazuo Takeda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roberto Fantastico!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, John Roberts and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takeda misses with a wild body shot.
Takeda throws a shot from downtown. Fantastico moves away and avoids it.
Takeda scores with a nice head shot.


It looks like Roberto Fantastico has been cut.
Takeda scores with a hook.
Takeda ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Fantastico moves away.

Fantastico fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Takeda sprawls well initially but Fantastico persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Takeda looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Fantastico pushes past his half guard into mount!
Takeda wants to control but Fantastico is having none of it.
Fantastico tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Takeda is looking to get to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Takeda is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Takeda tries to control Fantastico's body but Fantastico pushes him off. Takeda squirms to his side and now Fantastico has his back!
Fantastico trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Takeda doesn't escape.
Takeda trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Takeda breaks Fantastico's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Takeda trying to control but Fantastico is working from the bottom.
Takeda working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Fantastico keeping moving, preventing Takeda from controlling successfully.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Fantastico dives in and grabs Takeda's left leg, looking for a takedown. Takeda pushes down on Fantastico's head and hops out.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Takeda cracks Fantastico with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Fantastico slips a straight right by Takeda.
Takeda misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Takeda shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Takeda showed some decent athleticism there.

Takeda is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Fantastico is just riding it out for now. Takeda eventually gives up the hold.
Fantastico is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fantastico trying to hold on to Takeda's head to control him but Takeda postures up.
Fantastico won't allow Takeda to pass to mount.
Takeda throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Fantastico decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Takeda's guard.
Fantastico trying to control but Takeda is working from the bottom.

Fantastico won't allow Takeda to sweep him here.

Takeda is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Takeda is trying to control the action in half guard but Fantastico is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Takeda tries to pass to full mount but Fantastico defends it.
Takeda is keen to just control but Fantastico is a slippery customer.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Takeda looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Still in half guard, Takeda seems content to control.

Takeda is looking for a kimura but Fantastico is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Takeda to get the leverage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Takeda throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kazuo Takeda seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Takeda takes a swing at Fantastico's ribcage but misses.
A head kick misses from Takeda.

Fantastico shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Takeda is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Takeda gets back to half guard.
Takeda keeping hold of Fantastico's head, controlling as best he can.
Takeda tries to roll over but Fantastico keeps him under control.
Fantastico passes into side control, despite Takeda's attempt to control the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Takeda is looking for a sweep.
Takeda sneaks back into half guard.
Takeda is controlling Fantastico's position as best he can from this difficult position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Takeda is trying to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roberto Fantastico showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Takeda tries to score with some ground and pound. Fantastico controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fantastico managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Takeda.
Takeda misses with the ground and pound.
Takeda throws a strike aimed at the side of Fantastico's head but Fantastico avoids it well.
An elbow from Takeda crashes against the mat.
Fantastico is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Takeda looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Kazuo Takeda overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Fantastico decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Fantastico is pressing down on Takeda's thigh, looking to free his foot. Takeda is holding on for now.
Takeda has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Fantastico is working away from the top position though.
Takeda slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Fantastico takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Fantastico stopping the sweep attempt from Takeda.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Takeda is on top in guard.
Fantastico looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Takeda is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Fantastico keeping full guard, as Takeda tries to pass.
Fantastico working a defensive guard here.
Fantastico might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Takeda kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well Takeda has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
