The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and Zullo decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mauser's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Mauser is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Mauser drops back, looking for a kneebar! Zullo looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Zullo looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Zullo!

Zullo has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Mauser is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Zullo yanks on the arm and Mauser is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Zullo.
