Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brendan Solomon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nick Cocoa! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cocoa misses with an uppercut. Solomon saw that one coming. Solomon lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cocoa circles away quickly and effectively. Solomon ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Solomon scores with a nice strike.
It looks like Nick Cocoa has been cut. Solomon misses with a few strikes there.
Cocoa falls off balance throwing a combination
and Solomon counters with a stiff right hand. Cocoa gets a takedown into half guard. Cocoa is trying to work for a kimura but Solomon is defending well.
Solomon looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Solomon blocking the ground and pound attempt from Cocoa. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Solomon actively working from the bottom here. Cocoa is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
That's one minute gone in the round. Solomon wants to control but Cocoa is keeping busy and won't allow it. Cocoa is working for a submission of some sort.

Cocoa looks gassed!
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Cocoa throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Solomon misses the shot to the body. Solomon fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Solomon throws a right hand that Cocoa ducks under and follows up with a left that Cocoa also avoids with ease. A combination from Solomon does no damage. Cocoa dives in and grabs Solomon's left leg, looking for a takedown. Solomon pushes down on Cocoa's head and hops out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Solomon looks to land a combination. Cocoa sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Solomon throws a sloppy head kick and Cocoa moves out of range easily. Solomon throws a right and a left that Cocoa avoids nicely. Cocoa misses with an uppercut. Cocoa closes this distance looking for a takedown but Solomon circles away. Solomon ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cocoa moves away. Solomon slips under a jab from Cocoa. Cocoa misses with an uppercut. Cocoa looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Solomon is fending him off so far but Cocoa persists. Nope, Solomon circles away and we're back to standing. Brendan Solomon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Cocoa. Cocoa looks to score with a jab to the body but Solomon is just out of range. Solomon displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Cocoa tries to move into range but Solomon moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Cocoa is rocked! Solomon pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Cocoa is still on wobbly legs! Can Solomon finish him? Solomon darts in and lands a big hook, right on the button! Cocoa's legs crumble underneath him as he falls to the canvas! The ref tackles Solomon before he gets to land any more shots to his stricken foe.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Brendan Solomon!
