Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kazushi Nakamura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Homer Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burns has chosen Remember the Name as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burns throws a jab but it's blocked by Nakamura.
Nakamura ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Nakamura throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Burns's waist but Burns gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Nakamura off to one side.

Burns throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Nakamura.

Burns looks to score with a jab to the body but Nakamura is just out of range.
Burns ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Nakamura moves away.

Burns throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Homer Burns is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Nakamura shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Burns sprawls well. Burns wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Nakamura gets slowly back to his feet.

Nakamura tries to score a power double leg takedown but Burns sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Nakamura somewhat.

Nakamura drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Nakamura jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Burns looks to score with a jab to the body but Nakamura is just out of range.
Burns thows a body shot but no joy.
Burns misses with a kick to the body.
Burns throws a nice looking combination but Nakamura bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Homer Burns dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Burns jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Nakamura closes this distance looking for a takedown but Burns circles away.
Burns misses the body punch

and Nakamura counters with a single leg into guard. Burns didn't expect that.
Nakamura won't allow Burns to get back to his feet.

Nakamura drops back looking for a leg! Burns is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Burns manages to kick Nakamura off! Nakamura jumps back into Burns's guard.

Nakamura is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Burns is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Nakamura drops down looking for an ankle pick but Burns pulls his leg out and moves away.

Nakamura takes one to the side of the head.


It looks like Kazushi Nakamura has been cut.
Nakamura walks into a straight right hand from Burns.

Burns lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

and Nakamura counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Burns's guard now.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Burns really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nakamura. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Nakamura stands and throws Burns's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Burns wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Nakamura is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Burns knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Nakamura makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Burns wants to get back to his feet but Nakamura is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



Nakamura shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Nakamura showed some decent athleticism there.

Burns kicks Nakamura off and gets back to his feet.
Burns throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Nakamura closes the distance and clinches up with Burns, looking for a takedown. Nakamura pushes Burns against the cage but Burns circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Nakamura displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Burns throws out the jab.
Burns throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Nakamura.

and Nakamura counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Burns!

Nakamura is going olschool here, as he tries to force Burns to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Burns shrugs it off.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Burns tries to kick Nakamura off but Nakamura keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Burns is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Nakamura wants to take a breather but Burns is having none of it.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Burns can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Burns tries to roll over but Nakamura keeps him under control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Burns loads up on a big right hand but Nakamura slips the punch.

Nakamura feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Burns wants to stand and escape but Nakamura is having none of it.

Burns wants to get back to his feet.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Nakamura connects with a nice short shot to Burns's temple.

Burns wants to improve his position but Nakamura is controlling well.

Nakamura is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Burns is just riding it out for now. Nakamura eventually gives up the hold.

Nakamura changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Burns tries to avoid it but Nakamura manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Burns to the ground. Burns escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
