PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Li Zheng (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Davo Eduardo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zheng comes into the arena with Kung Fu Fighting blaring out of the sound system. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Li Zheng! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Davo Eduardo! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick misses from Eduardo. Zheng shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Eduardo's guard. Eduardo is trying to control the position but Zheng postures up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Eduardo trying to control the position here. Zheng pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Eduardo is keeping the position for now. Eduardo working for submissions but it's allowed Zheng to get to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Eduardo is controlling Zheng's position as best he can from this difficult position. Zheng slows the pace down in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Eduardo trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Eduardo slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Zheng is trying to control. Eduardo wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Zheng could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Eduardo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Eduardo moves into full guard.
Eduardo pulls Zheng in close to prevent any damage. Zheng has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Zheng seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Eduardo is trying to control the position but Zheng postures up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Li Zheng dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Eduardo displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Zheng. Jab from Zheng.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Eduardo closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Eduardo has hold of Zheng's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Zheng seems comfortable defending it but Eduardo has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Zheng is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Zheng is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Eduardo couldn't care less - he's delighted!
