PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Takla Griss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tiko Gardeau (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Griss comes to the cage accompanied by Furious Angels (Reversed). Tiko Gardeau is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Takla Griss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tiko Gardeau!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gardeau throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Griss throws a chopping leg kick but Gardeau manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Gardeau misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Griss throws a combination that misses

and Gardeau counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Gardeau.

Gardeau postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Gardeau stands up over Griss, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Griss is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gardeau defends well.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Griss is on top in guard.
Griss is looking to stand up but Gardeau won't let him.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Griss slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Gardeau is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Griss off and has taken his back!

Gardeau looking to break Griss's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Griss remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Gardeau will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Griss is trying to get back to his feet but Gardeau has full control of the position and if anything, Griss has just worked his way into a worse spot.

You can see the frustration on Griss's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Gardeau is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Griss knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Griss for a finish.

Griss manages to reverse the position and now he's in Gardeau's guard. Nice work there by Griss.

Griss slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Gardeau misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Gardeau lands a glancing blow to the side of Griss's head.

Griss pivots, looking for a leg kick but Gardeau is out of range and Griss settles back down.
Gardeau shoots in looking for a takedown. Griss tries to sprawl out of it but Gardeau keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Griss manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Takla Griss has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tiko Gardeau.
Griss tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gardeau chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Griss can pounce on him.
Gardeau dives in and grabs Griss's left leg, looking for a takedown. Griss pushes down on Gardeau's head and hops out.
Griss stuffs the takedown attempt from Gardeau. Gardeau gets slowly back to his feet.

Griss shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Griss is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gardeau is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gardeau has escaped and now he's on top!

Gardeau has gone for a leg lock! Griss slips out almost immediately though and dives into Gardeau's guard.

Griss drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gardeau manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Griss has Gardeau in his guard.

Griss working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gardeau doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gardeau manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gardeau accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Griss connects with a high kick.
Gardeau chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Griss can pounce on him.
Griss rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gardeau moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Griss throws a head kick but Gardeau moves out of range.
Gardeau lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Griss shoots and misses
and Gardeau cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Takla Griss seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Griss looks to land a body kick but Gardeau moved away.

Gardeau takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Gardeau misses with a low kick.
Griss tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gardeau was well out of range. Poor timing from Griss.

Gardeau closes this distance looking for a takedown but Griss circles away.
Takla Griss has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tiko Gardeau.

and Gardeau counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Griss postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Griss is in close to Gardeau's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Griss wants to control from the top but Gardeau keeps moving.

Gardeau has his feet on Griss's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Gardeau takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Griss slaps away a takedown attempt from Gardeau, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Griss is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Gardeau's half guard.

Griss is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gardeau is just riding it out for now. Griss eventually gives up the hold.

Well Griss has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
