Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joe Guida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacque Strope (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joe Guida! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jacque Strope! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Guida circles away from the clinch attempt.
No joy there for Strope, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Strope lets loose with a powerful body kick. Guida will feel that in the morning. Strope swinging wilding here.

Guida fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Strope avoids it really well and circles away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Strope misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

and Guida counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Guida drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Strope manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Guida has Strope in his guard. Guida scrambles and gets back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Strope misses with a combination
and Guida counters with a three punch combo that has Strope backing up. Strope nods at Guida to acknowledge the strikes. Strope lands with a thumping leg kick.
Guida walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Guida shoots and misses and Strope counters with a one-two to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Strope misses with a double jab.
Strope rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Guida moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Guida throws a leg kick that is checked and Strope counters with a left and a right that stings Guida. Guida tries for a takedown but Strope circles away easily and Strope counters by moving into the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Guida. That's going to take a lot out of him. The referee calls for Strope to work.
Strope manages to break the clinch.
Guida takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Guida with a lazy takedown attempt and Strope counters with a two punch combo. Strope scores with a three punch combo!
Strope uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Guida.
Guida fails with the takedown and Strope counters with a head kick. That will keep Guida thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jacque Strope dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Guida gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Strope counters by moving into the clinch. Strope breaks from the clinch.
Guida keeps the fight on the outside. Guida shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Guida prevents Strope from standing back up.
Guida seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Strope does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Strope is trying to get back to full guard. Strope wants to control but Guida is keeping busy.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Guida is looking to clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. No joy there for Strope, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Guida throws a sloppy head kick and Strope counters with a three punch combo that has Guida backing up. Guida nods at Strope to acknowledge the strikes. Guida misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Strope scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Danga de danga de dang - Strope scores with a four punch combination! Strope cracks the inside of Guida's front leg.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Strope scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Strope lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Guida wants to clinch but Strope slips to the side and Strope counters with a one-two to the body. Guida swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Strope counters with a lovely straight right hand! Strope dips to his left and cracks Guida with an uppercut! Strope misses with a wild combination.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Strope moves into the clinch. Guida wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Guida. That's going to take a lot out of him. Guida changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Strope fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Strope's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Strope duly obliges. Guida has his takedown stuffed and Strope counters with a good low kick that Guida was not able to check. Strope throws a right and a left that Guida avoids nicely. Jacque Strope seems to be getting the better of the standup. Guida tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jacque Strope showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Strope tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Strope pushes Guida up against the cage in a clinch. Strope breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Strope closes the distance and lands a one-two. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Guida misses with a takedown and Strope counters with a low kick, right behind Guida 's knee. Strope listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Guida tries for a takedown but Strope circles away easily and Strope counters with a series of strikes. Guida will be more careful next time no doubt. Strope fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Guida shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Strope's guard. Guida stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Strope swivels though and keeps the full guard. Strope is looking to stand up but Guida isn't so interested in that idea. Guida slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Strope working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Guida. Guida won't allow Strope to get back to his feet. Strope wants to sweep here but Guida controlling him for the moment. Guida stops Strope from standing up. Guida preventing the sweep.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Strope gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Guida wants to control from the top but Strope keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Strope wants to stand up but Guida is controlling him. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Guida accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Jacque Strope is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Strope keeping moving, preventing Guida from controlling successfully. Guida throwing strikes from guard but Strope blocks nicely. Strope wants to stand up but Guida is controlling him. Joe Guida has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Guida is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
