The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee looks to score with a jab to the body but Monoriku is just out of range.
Lee looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Monoriku fails with the takedown.
Monoriku takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

It looks like Katsuyari Monoriku has been cut.
Lee scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Chuck Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Monoriku misses with a jab, cross combination.
Monoriku throws a sloppy head kick and Lee moves out of range easily.
Lee throws the left hand but Monoriku avoids the punch easily.
Monoriku misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Lee fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Monoriku on the side of the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Monoriku tries to clinch but Lee is having none of it.
Monoriku pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Monoriku uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Lee.
A slapping body kick lands there for Monoriku.

Lee throws a hook but Monoriku blocks it.
Monoriku shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Lee defends it nicely.

The fight stays on the outside here - Lee looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Lee can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Monoriku is looking to escape.
Lee is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Monoriku wants to hold on but Lee pushes him away.
Monoriku can't escape the position.
Lee wants to control the pace but Monoriku is squirming around nicely.
Monoriku is desperately trying to improve his position but Lee has a good base and remains in mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lee tries to control but Monoriku wriggling away.
Lee is landing with some decent strikes but Monoriku is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Lee lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Monoriku hang on?
