Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Spinner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cory Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maia has chosen Gucci Mane vs. Drake - Runnin' Closer as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Matt Spinner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spinner avoids the head kick by Maia.
Maia takes a shot right to the bread basket. Maia avoids the body shot from Spinner.
A combination from Maia does no damage. Spinner gets in close and instigates a clinch. Spinner fails to pull guard.
Maia using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Spinner has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Spinner managing to block the knees to the body from Maia.
Maia with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Maia misses with a knee strike.
A short left from Maia. Maia lands with a short shot to the head. Spinner working hard to break the clinch. Maia tries a knee to the head but Spinner blocks it.
Spinner gets control of Maia's arms and successfully pulls guard. Spinner will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Spinner is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Maia is aware though and is defending well. Spinner working for a triangle but Maia defends it easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Spinner throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Maia escapes and throws Spinner's legs to the side, diving into side control! Spinner is trying to get back to half guard. Spinner struggling a bit here. Maia stands up. Spinner moves into the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Spinner fails to pull guard.

Spinner goes for a takedown attempt but Maia pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Spinner. That's going to take a lot out of him. Spinner shoots in looking for a takedown. Maia tries to sprawl out of it but Spinner keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Maia manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Spinner shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Spinner was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Spinner unloads with some shots from mount but Maia bucks and avoids them well.
Spinner dominating with strikes here. Maia is squirming around, avoiding Spinner's attempts to control the action.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maia wants to try and get back to his feet. Spinner trying to control but he's not successful this time. Spinner controlling the position easily from mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Spinner with shots to the head and body - Maia looks very uncomfortable down there. Spinner won't let Maia get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Maia is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Spinner has taken his back.
Maia trying to get back to his feet but Spinner is in full control for now. Spinner just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Matt Spinner dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Maia is looking to clinch. Spinner wants to clinch up but Maia keeps it at a distance. Spinner shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Spinner was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Maia holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Spinner tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Spinner controlling from the full mount. Spinner is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Maia is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Maia flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Spinner anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Maia and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Spinner slips an arm under Maia chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Spinner has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Spinner is squeezing on Maia like an anaconda would it's prey. Maia fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
