Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ruben Santana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Wallace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ruben Santana!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Peter Wallace!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Anthony Taglia and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wallace tries to keep at a distance but Santana has taken the fight into the clinch.
Santana will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Wallace up against the cage.
Wallace tries to break free but Santana pushes him back against the cage.
Santana tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Wallace avoids it.

Santana gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Santana scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Santana works his way into side control.
Wallace is being controlled here.
Santana has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Santana stands up.
Wallace thuds a left hand into Santana's body.

Santana misses with a kick to the body.
Wallace misses with a two punch combination.
Nice sprawl there from Santana as Wallace shoots in.

Santana drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Wallace is trying to control the position but Santana postures up.
Santana has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Santana gets to his feet. Wallace looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Wallace tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Santana paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Santana is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Santana misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Santana shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Santana showed some decent athleticism there.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Santana in particular looking to stall.

Santana thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Wallace's head.
Santana is thwarting Wallace's attempts to control the position.

Santana stands up and beckons Wallace to join him on the feet.
Wallace lands a head kick!

Santana rushes Wallace and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Santana jumps into guard, dragging Wallace to the mat.
Santana has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Wallace is looking to work some ground and pound but Santana has wrist control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Wallace misses with a jab, cross combination.

and Wallace counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Santana thinking.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wallace wants to stand and escape but instead Santana has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Santana's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Santana postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Santana passes into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Santana is controlling the pace.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Wallace trying to hold on to Santana's head to control him but Santana postures up.
Wallace avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Santana.
Wallace blocking the ground and pound attempt from Santana.

Santana is trying to work for a kimura but Wallace is defending well.
Santana is thwarting Wallace's attempts to control the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Santana feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Santana stops Wallace from standing up.

Santana decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Santana circles away from the clinch attempt.

and Santana takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Santana shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Santana is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Wallace!

Wallace is desperately trying to improve his position but Santana has a good base and remains in mount.

Wallace tries to lock up and control but Santana gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ruben Santana dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Wallace takes a kick to the side of the head.
Santana scores with a decent looking hook.
Nice body punch from Santana.
Wallace scores with a one two! Santana had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Santana shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Wallace's guard.
Ruben Santana overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Santana content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Santana advances position into side control!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wallace is looking to regain half guard here but Santana keeps moving and retains side control.

Santana is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Wallace has escaped the position, nice work there.
Wallace is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Santana is chipping away with strikes.
Wallace on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Santana scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Wallace to see if he's OK.
Wallace tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Wallace is working to avoid the ground and pound but Santana connects with a decent elbow.

Santana is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Wallace is trying to escape and Santana transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Wallace is forced to tap! Nice work there by Santana! Very nice indeed!
