Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marko Vesala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Soul Rebel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Soul Rebel has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Marko Vesala!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Soul Rebel!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Roosa Järviläinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rebel fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Vesala avoids it really well and circles away.
Vesala circles away from the clinch attempt.

Rebel moves in looking to clinch but Vesala pushes him off.

Vesala gets a takedown into half guard.

Vesala drives through and clinches with Rebel against the cage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Vesala won't allow Rebel to get back to his feet.
Rebel should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Vesala seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Vesala tries to score a body lock takedown but Rebel shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Rebel is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Vesala stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rebel swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rebel is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Rebel has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Vesala drops down looking for an ankle pick but Rebel pulls his leg out and moves away.

Rebel tries to clinch up but Vesala circles away and keeps his distance.

Vesala throws a combination. Rebel tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Rebel tries to close the distance and clinch but Vesala swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Soul Rebel dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Vesala feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Vesala postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Rebel is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Vesala, into his guard.

Vesala had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Rebel is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Vesala Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Rebel's back instead.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Vesala is looking to finish with some ground and pound!

Rebel is trying escape back to his feet. He turns into his opponent's guard and eventually finds his way back to his feet.

Rebel decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Rebel looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

and Vesala counters with a single leg into guard. Rebel didn't expect that.

Rebel blocks a body shot from Vesala.

Rebel has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Vesala uses from the top position.

Rebel will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Rebel shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Rebel was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Soul Rebel showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Vesala seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rebel does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
