Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Wayne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and The Man (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The Man has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Wayne! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, The Man! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Jonathan Paton and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Man misses with a body shot.
Man looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Wayne waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Man. Man just misses with a punch to the body.

Wayne slips under a jab from Man. Wayne swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Man tries to bum rush Wayne with a series of wild strikes but Wayne uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Man checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Wayne throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Man stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Wayne lands a nice looking body shot.
Man moves out of range as Wayne strikes. Man throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Wayne. Man slips under a jab. Wayne tests Man's chin there with a solid looking shot. Wayne fails to land with a series of punches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Man just misses with a punch to the body.

and Wayne decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Man's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wayne slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Man keeping moving, preventing Wayne from controlling successfully. Wayne trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wayne wants to control from the top but Man keeps moving. Man keeping full guard, as Wayne tries to pass. Wayne controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Wayne won't allow Man to sweep him here. Wayne postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Wayne dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Man keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Wayne fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Man manages to avoid it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A punch combination from Man misses. Wayne misses with a hook. Man fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Wayne looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Man fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Wayne attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. A left and a right from Man both land. Nice combination. Wayne takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Nice body punch from Man. Some wild striking there from Man.
Wayne looks for a takedown but Man sprawls well. Wayne avoids a punch combination nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wayne throws a body punch but Man moves out of range. Jab by Wayne. Man swings and misses with a hook to the body.
No joy there for Man, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Man gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Wayne to score an easy takedown into full guard. Man looking for a sweep. Not yet Man, not yet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Wayne dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Man will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Wayne makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Man listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Man throws a right and a left that both miss. Man swings away with a body shot that misses
and Wayne counters with a left to the body. Man takes a shot right to the bread basket. Man takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Man is breathing heavily. Wayne lands a jab to Man's midsection. Wayne is looking to wear down Man with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Man takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Wayne scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Wayne lands a right hook to the body.
Wayne throws a series of punches but Man moves out of range. Man displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Wayne throws out the jab. Wayne lands a nice shot to the body.

and Wayne counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Wayne throws a leg kick that misses. Man avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Wayne shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Wayne showed some decent athleticism there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Wayne trying to control the action but Man is working from the bottom. Man tries to get to full guard but Wayne has control of the leg. Man is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Wayne scores with a couple of nice shots. Wayne trying to control the action but Man is working from the bottom. Wayne takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Man taking shots to the head. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Wayne lands a nice shot to the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Wayne counters with a two punch combo. Man takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Wayne connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Man's hands. Wayne decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Wayne not doing much here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wayne working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. The Man has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Man has a hand on Wayne's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Wayne takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Man keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Wayne lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Wayne landing strikes from the mount. Wayne sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. John Wayne is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that's the end of the fight! John Wayne showed his dominance in that final round. Well Wayne has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
