Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Filthy McNasty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nikolai Valuev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McNasty comes to the cage accompanied by Burn it to the ground-Nickelback. Nikolai Valuev will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Filthy McNasty! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nikolai Valuev! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Aleksandr Martynov and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McNasty shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Valuev pushes McNasty off looking to stand but McNasty dives back in and keeps control.
Valuev slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Valuev is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Valuev controlling the position. McNasty won't allow Valuev to get back to his feet. McNasty thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Valuev really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McNasty. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Valuev looking to sweep here. No luck so far. McNasty tries to free his leg and advance position but Valuev is retaining full guard. McNasty with a flurry of punches that miss.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Valuev tries to clinch but McNasty is having none of it. Valuev tries to close the distance and clinch up but McNasty swats him away and circles back towards the center. McNasty fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. McNasty circles away from the clinch attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Valuev fails with the takedown and McNasty counters with a nice double leg into guard. McNasty thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Valuev is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. McNasty drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Valuev dives on top into guard. Valuev has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of McNasty is proving hard to escape from. McNasty looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McNasty is breathing heavily. McNasty is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. McNasty had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Valuev is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. McNasty Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Valuev's back instead. Valuev is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if McNasty gets his way!

Valuev gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and McNasty counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Valuev! McNasty dominating with strikes here. McNasty swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Valuev is now in McNasty's guard. A big mistake from McNasty there, giving up the dominant position! McNasty working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Valuev doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Valuev manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Valuev gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. McNasty gets the takedown into side control.

McNasty is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Valuev doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time McNasty.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. McNasty is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Valuev defends it well. McNasty looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. McNasty stops Valuev from getting back to his feet.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Valuev fails with the takedown and McNasty decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Valuev's guard.

Valuev is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst McNasty is controlling him. McNasty postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Valuev is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of McNasty, into his guard. McNasty working for submissions but it's allowed Valuev to get to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. McNasty tries to roll over but Valuev keeps him under control. McNasty moves into full guard.
Valuev tries to stand but McNasty is controlling from the bottom. Valuev must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Filthy McNasty dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!
McNasty fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Valuev avoids it really well and circles away. McNasty shoots for a double leg takedown but Valuev sprawls well. He's pushed McNasty's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Valuev closes the distance looking to clinch and McNasty counters with a nice double leg into side control. Valuev won't be happy with that.

That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no McNasty has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Valuev wants to get back to his feet but McNasty drags him back down. McNasty wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Valuev, who protects the arm well. McNasty is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Valuev knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Valuev is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on McNasty's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Valuev keeping hold of McNasty's head, controlling as best he can. McNasty stops Valuev from getting back to his feet.

Nikolai Valuev has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Valuev struggling a bit here. Filthy McNasty overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. McNasty is staying tight to Valuev's torso, preventing him from escaping.
And that's the end of the fight! Filthy McNasty showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for McNasty, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
