Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frank Pembelton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oil Slick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pembelton kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Hail Mary by Tupac. Slick is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Careful With That Axe Eugene. Frank Pembelton has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank Pembelton! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Oil Slick! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, David Schapiro and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Slick lands a nice hook to Pembelton's body. Pembelton takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Slick misses with a body shot.
Pembelton closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Slick to the mat! Slick manages to get full guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Slick is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pembelton wants to control from the top but Slick keeps moving. Pembelton landing with the ground and pound. Pembelton is looking to stand up but Slick won't let him. Pembelton has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Pembelton got a little sloppy there for a moment and Slick has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pembelton has managed to get both his arms back between Slick's legs - danger averted. Slick tries to land a sweep but no joy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pembelton gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Slick feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Slick postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Pembelton is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Slick, into his guard. Slick keeping moving, preventing Pembelton from controlling successfully. Slick is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Pembelton postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Pembelton pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Slick is keeping the position for now. Slick working a defensive guard here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Slick connects with a solid leg kick. Pembelton fails with the takedown. Slick gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Pembelton counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Slick wants to improve his position but Pembelton is controlling well.

Slick wants to pass the guard but Pembelton is keeping the position. Slick sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Pembelton's guard. Pembelton wants to improve his position but Slick is controlling well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Slick gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily so Pembelton counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Slick looking for a guillotine here but Pembelton defends easily.

Pembelton wants to clinch up but Slick keeps it at a distance. Slick has his takedown stuffed and Pembelton counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Slick gets full guard. Slick is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Slick is looking to sweep but instead, Pembelton has passed into half guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Slick misses with a takedown attempt and Pembelton decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Slick's guard. Slick working for a triangle but Pembelton defends it easily.
Slick is breathing heavily. Pembelton forces his way into half guard. Pembelton is trying to control the action in half guard but Slick is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Pembelton wants to stand up but Slick has a hold of him and won't allow it. Pembelton seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Slick does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Slick throws a nice outside leg kick. A head kick misses from Slick. Oil Slick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pembelton fails with the takedown and Slick counters with a single leg into guard. Pembelton didn't expect that. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pembelton looking for subs off his back but Slick has passed one foot through into half guard.

Slick lands a nice shot to the head. Slick pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Slick is in the full mount, landing strikes. Pembelton is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Slick has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Pembelton's face.

Oil Slick showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Slick feints and as Pembelton raises his hands in defense, Slick changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Pembelton working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Slick doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Frank Pembelton is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Slick gets the takedown into side control. Pembelton gets back to half guard. Slick tries to pass the half guard into mount. Pembelton knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Slick is looking for a kimura but Pembelton is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Slick to get the leverage. Oil Slick really dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Pembelton bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Slick wants to control but Pembelton postures up. Pembelton goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Slick has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Pembelton but great work by Slick. You can see the frustration on Pembelton's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Pembelton is not content to let Slick control the position. Slick working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Pembelton tries to get back to half guard but can't. Slick misses with the ground and pound. Pembelton gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Slick lands with a punch from half guard. It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.
