Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, All American! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Bob Dole! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Paul Tew and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dole avoids a punch combination nicely.
All American seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. American lands a two punch combo.
American shoots in and bounces Dole off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. American postures up and lands a big shot to Dole's brow. American scoring with punches to the head and body. American connects with a couple of short punches. American throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dole throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dole is on top in guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dole pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. American is keeping the position for now. Dole drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dole jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Dole looks gassed! American is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. American throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

American throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. American shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Dole as he jumps to the side. Dole gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and American counters with a takedown into side control. American misses with the ground and pound. American landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Dole is not in a great position here, taking some shots. American grinds an elbow into Dole's temple. Dole defending against the ground and pound. Dole taking punishment in the form of punches.

That's three minutes gone in the round. American cracks Dole with a big right hand but Dole just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
American knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dole on the ground. American fails to land a wild elbow strike.
American landing a few strikes. Dole manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! American tries to roll over but Dole keeps him under control. Dole seems to be looking for submissions.
American is looking to improve his position.
American pushes Dole off looking to stand but Dole dives back in and keeps control.
Dole is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Dole trying to mount his opponent but American defends it. Dole is sneakily working for an arm triangle but American sees it coming and defends easily.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. American gets the takedown into side control. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Dole taking punishment in the form of punches.
American trying to control the position but Dole is working away. Dole wants to control but American postures up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
All American dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
American shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Dole counters with a nice double leg into guard. Dole stops American from standing up. American looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Dole trying to control the position from guard on top but American is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Dole slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. All American overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Dole trying to control the position but American is working away. American is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dole thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Dole tries for a kimura but American is defending well. American is looking for a sweep. Dole working away. American is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. Dole is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. American knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. American is looking for a sweep.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Dole wants to control but American is keeping him busy. Dole is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but American is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. American shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. American showed some decent athleticism there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dole avoiding damage under a succession of punches from American. Dole slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. American working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Dole looking for a sweep. Not yet Dole, not yet. Dole keeping moving, preventing American from controlling successfully. American stands up over Dole, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. American fails miserably with a takedown attempt. American shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. American throwing strikes here but Dole is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
American with good strikes from the mount here! Dole is looking to get to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Bob Dole will probably get the nod - 10:9. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
American scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Dole manages to work his way to half guard, despite American's best efforts. Dole blocking the ground and pound attempt from American. American looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Dole with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Dole tries to roll over but American keeps him under control. American throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. American working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Dole looking for submissions off his back. American looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Dole with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. American looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dole makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Dole. American trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. American got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dole has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, American has managed to get both his arms back between Dole's legs - danger averted. American connects with a couple of short punches. American throws a big right hand that misses. American avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
American distracts Dole with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. American throwing strikes but missing. Dole escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. American gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dole has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but American can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. American chips away with some ground and pound. Dole not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Dole escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. American gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as American accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Dole avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Dole defends well against a solid takedown attempt from American. American misses with a takedown and Dole counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for American!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dole blocks American's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. American is wriggling around trying to escape.
American is working hard here to advance position. Dole thowing shots but they're missing. Dole looking to control but American is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Dole takes American's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, American is in trouble. American rolls, trying to escape but Dole keeps control of the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Bob Dole comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Dole has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
