Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jay Fatts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Simmons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fatts comes to the cage accompanied by Hit Em Up by Tupac. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Fatts!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fred Simmons!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Bruno Lombardi and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simmons misses with a straight right.

Fatts darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Simmons looking for submissions off his back.
Fatts wants to take a breather but Simmons is having none of it.
Simmons trying to control from the bottom.
Fatts landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Simmons wants to improve his position but Fatts is controlling well.
Fatts wants to free his trapped foot but Simmons is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Simmons is doing well to control the position and prevent Fatts from advancing to side control.
Simmons avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Fatts.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Simmons tries to roll over but Fatts keeps him under control.
Simmons is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Simmons wants to sweep but Fatts has passed to side control!
Simmons is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Fatts lands a nice short elbow.
Simmons is looking for a sweep. Fatts is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Simmons trying to control from the bottom.
Fatts frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Simmons is looking to get to half guard.
Fatts lands a heavy elbow.

Fatts punishing his opponent with strikes.

Fatts has control of Simmons's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Simmons regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Fatts lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Simmons wants to control but Fatts is having none of it.
Fatts working the ground and pound effectively.
Simmons tries to improve his position but instead Fatts has taken his back!

Fatts has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Fatts is trying to stick to Simmons's back but Simmons is turning into Fatts. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Fatts's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Simmons.

Fatts has his foot on Simmons's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Simmons works his way back into a safe position though.
Fatts has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Simmons got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fatts has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Simmons has managed to get both his arms back between Fatts's legs - danger averted.
Simmons throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Fatts works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Connects with an elbow from the bottom, proving to the judges that he's still active off his back.
Simmons must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Fatts looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Fatts is breathing heavily.

Fatts escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Simmons gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Fatts working a defensive guard here.

Simmons postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Fatts is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Simmons, into his guard.
Fatts is looking to stand up but Simmons won't let him.

Fatts stopping the sweep attempt from Simmons.
Fatts wants to control from the top but Simmons keeps moving.
Simmons is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Fatts thows a big elbow that misses.
Simmons looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Fatts throwing strikes from guard but Simmons blocks nicely.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Fatts landing with the ground and pound.

Simmons is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Fatts rolls with it to try and escape but Simmons cranks on the arm and Fatts is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Fred Simmons!
