Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris O Brian!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Daley!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Eddie Farnsworth and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daley throws a right hand that O Brian ducks under and follows up with a left that O Brian also avoids with ease.
O Brian looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Daley fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but O Brian avoids it really well and circles away.
Daley wants to clinch.
Daley is looking to clinch but O Brian is avoiding it.
O Brian circles away from the clinch attempt.
Daley is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

O Brian gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Daley to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Daley wants to control from the top but O Brian keeps moving.

Daley is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Daley accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
O Brian keeping moving, preventing Daley from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Daley shoots in but O Brian avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Daley throws a right and a left that O Brian avoids nicely.
Daley is trying hard to land a takedown here. O Brian sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Chris O Brian has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Daley.
Daley is looking to clinch.
Daley changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. O Brian tries to avoid it but Daley manages to keep hold of a leg and drag O Brian to the ground. O Brian escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

O Brian scrambles and gets back to his feet.

O Brian looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
O Brian thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Daley's head.
O Brian throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
O Brian trying to control from half guard but Daley is working away.
O Brian missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
O Brian throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
O Brian has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Daley has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. O Brian is working away from the top position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Daley is trying to stand back up but O Brian is controlling him
O Brian passes the guard and advances to mount!

O Brian has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Daley's face.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Paul Daley will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


O Brian has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Daley shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and O Brian counters with a nice double leg into side control. Daley won't be happy with that.
Daley is looking to reverse the position.
You can see the frustration on Daley's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Daley tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

O Brian looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Daley regains half guard.
Daley is looking for a sweep. O Brian is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

O Brian shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Daley is trying to control but can't.
Daley really doesn't want to stay on the ground with O Brian. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
O Brian is looking to pass Daley's guard but actually Daley recovers to full guard.
O Brian postures up in Daley's guard and throws a big left but Daley blocks it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
O Brian pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Daley is keeping the position for now.

O Brian thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

O Brian trying to control the position from guard on top but Daley is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Daley looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and O Brian counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Daley pushes O Brian off and gets back to his feet.
O Brian fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Daley bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Chris O Brian overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
O Brian gets back to half guard.
O Brian tries to roll over but Daley keeps him under control.

O Brian makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

O Brian closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Daley to the mat! Daley manages to get full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
O Brian thows a big elbow that misses.
Daley wants to sweep here but O Brian controlling him for the moment.

O Brian gets to his feet - Daley follows without any prompting.
O Brian thows a left - swing and a miss!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and O Brian counters with a big head kick but Daley shrugs it off.
Daley scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
O Brian showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Daley.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris O Brian dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!


Daley wants to clinch but O Brian slips to the side

and O Brian counters with a nice double leg into side control. Daley won't be happy with that.

Daley is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked O Brian off and has taken his back!
O Brian wants to escape the position.
O Brian is working hard here to advance position.

Daley is looking for the choke from the back position but O Brian is controlling his hands well.
Despite being in a bad position, O Brian is controlling the hands, preventing any submission attempts.
Daley is trying to stick to O Brian's back but O Brian is turning into Daley. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Daley's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by O Brian.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

O Brian looking to sit in guard and control but Daley gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Daley decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on O Brian, up you get!
Daley plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
O Brian shoots for a double leg takedown but Daley sprawls well. He's pushed O Brian's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Daley tries to close the distance and clinch but O Brian swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

O Brian postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Daley to stand up.

O Brian defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Daley.
A jab from Daley does it's job there.
Daley looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
O Brian misses with a takedown
and Daley counters with a big head kick but O Brian shrugs it off.
Daley leaves O Brian with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris O Brian. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and O Brian counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Daley's guard now.

Daley can't keep his opponent in guard - O Brian advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Daley avoiding damage under a succession of punches from O Brian.

Daley is trying to get back to full guard.
Daley wants to get back to his feet.
O Brian not landing any meaningful shots this time.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Daley fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt O Brian.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Daley avoids a punch combination nicely.
Daley tries to score a power double leg takedown but O Brian sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Daley somewhat.

And that's the end of the fight!
Chris O Brian showed his dominance in that final round.
Well O Brian has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
