Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hi Pitch Mike (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fransje DuVal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hi Pitch Mike!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Fransje DuVal!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Patrick Alders and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

DuVal drives through with a takedown into guard.
Mike is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
DuVal prevents Mike from getting back to his feet.
Mike keeping moving, preventing DuVal from controlling successfully.
DuVal might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Mike kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Mike striking off his back but it's not causing DuVal any problems.
DuVal slips nicely into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mike is trying to get back to full guard.
DuVal really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mike. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Mike looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
DuVal trying to hold on to Mike's head to control him but Mike postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

DuVal is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Mike is staying active.

Mike has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
DuVal throws a sloppy head kick and Mike moves out of range easily.

Mike gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows DuVal to score an easy takedown into full guard.

DuVal tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mike paws at him with a jab and circles away.
DuVal scores with a kick to the midsection.

Mike clinches up with DuVal and pushes him back against the cage.
Mike stalling in the clinch.
DuVal on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Nice body punch from Mike - that landed with a thud.
Mike lands a body punch.

Mike turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Mike misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Mike decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Mike throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. DuVal was covering up waiting for the punch and Mike finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Mike loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Mike postures up in DuVal's guard and throws a big left but DuVal blocks it.
DuVal is trying to control the position from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Mike moves into range and clinches up with DuVal.
DuVal drops down looking for an ankle pick but Mike pulls his leg out and moves away.

Mike shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Mike was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
DuVal is looking to get to half guard.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Mike cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hi Pitch Mike dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


DuVal tries to clinch but Mike is having none of it.

Mike closes the distance and clinches.
Mike is pressed up against the cage. DuVal has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mike down to the mat. Mike avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
DuVal misses with a takedown

and Mike counters by clinching up.
DuVal can't break the clinch.
Mike lands with a right to the head.
Mike lands with a right to the head.
DuVal tries to stall but Mike uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Mike breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Mike forces DuVal back against the cage and clinches.

Mike turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
DuVal managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Mike.

Mike has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

and Mike counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in DuVal's guard now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Mike in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
DuVal stuffs the takedown.

Mike postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
DuVal is trying to keep Mike in close.
Mike makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

and Mike holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

DuVal is fighting off a takedown attempt but Mike is just too persistent for him and manages to trip DuVal to the mat. DuVal regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

DuVal is looking to break free of the clinch but Mike has double underhooks.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Mike will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

The fight stays on the outside here - DuVal looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mike jumps guard and drags DuVal to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

DuVal wants to get up but he can't break Mike's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Mike wriggles free and stands up.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from DuVal. Mike shrugs it off though.

Mike closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

DuVal is looking for a sweep. Mike is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

DuVal had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Mike is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. DuVal Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Mike's back instead.
Mike tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

DuVal is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.
DuVal tries to control but Mike wriggling away.
Mike is trying desperately to improve position.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mike, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
