Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jarkko Kuoppala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lamon Anger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lamon Anger is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jarkko Kuoppala! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lamon Anger! The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Tarja Halkonen and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice takedown defense from Anger. No joy for Kuoppala on that attempt. Kuoppala shoots in looking for a takedown. Anger tries to sprawl out of it but Kuoppala keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Anger manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Anger tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kuoppala swivels and escapes. Anger gets caught flat footed, as Kuoppala shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Anger wants to stand up but Kuoppala is controlling him. Anger looks gassed! Kuoppala throws and elbow that misses. Anger uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kuoppala's guard. Nice move by Anger! Anger tries to free his leg and advance position but Kuoppala is retaining full guard. Anger won't allow Kuoppala to sweep him here. Kuoppala is working hard here to advance position. Anger stands up out of Kuoppala's guard for a moment - Kuoppala manages to land a nice upkick. Anger wants to get up but he can't break Kuoppala's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Kuoppala has his foot on Anger's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Anger works his way back into a safe position though.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Kuoppala tries to clinch but Anger is having none of it. Kuoppala fails with the takedown and Anger counters with a nice double leg into guard. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jarkko Kuoppala. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kuoppala trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Kuoppala seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Anger thows a big elbow that misses. Kuoppala is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Anger wants to stand and escape but instead Kuoppala has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Kuoppala trying to control but Anger is working from the bottom. Kuoppala content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kuoppala wants to stand but Anger is controlling his posture from full guard. Kuoppala postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Kuoppala trying to control but Anger is working from the bottom.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Kuoppala closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Kuoppala throws an elbow but Anger slips to the side and avoids it well. Kuoppala throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Anger is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Kuoppala has just dragged him back down to the mat. Kuoppala working away. Anger is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Kuoppala's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Kuoppala is thwarting Anger's attempts to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Anger is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kuoppala pulls his head out easily. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Anger can do anything to dispel that myth. Anger manages to escape and get back to his feet! Kuoppala shoots and misses so Anger counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Kuoppala utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Anger works a leg free and moves into half guard. Anger looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Kuoppala has hold of Anger's hands but Anger slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Kuoppala wants to control but Anger is keeping busy and won't allow it. Kuoppala has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Anger decides to stand and escape the position. Anger misses with an attempted mid kick.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Kuoppala doesn't succeed with the takedown and Anger counters with a nice double leg into half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kuoppala has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Anger is working away from the top position though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A big right from Anger misses. Kuoppala tries to clinch up but Anger circles away and keeps his distance. Anger will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Kuoppala changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Anger looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Kuoppala advances to full mount. Kuoppala landing punches. Kuoppala lands with some strikes. Kuoppala avoids the attempt from Anger to control. Anger is squirming around, avoiding Kuoppala's attempts to control the action. Anger tries to buck Kuoppala off but he can't manage it.

Kuoppala wants to control the pace but Anger is squirming around nicely. Anger wants to hold on but Kuoppala pushes him away. Anger taking shots to the head. Kuoppala pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Lamon Anger has got the better of the ground game so far. Anger bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Hammerfist, elbow! yells Anger's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Anger has gone for a leg lock! Kuoppala slips out almost immediately though and dives into Anger's guard. Anger wants to stand up but Kuoppala is controlling him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Anger is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kuoppala defends well. Kuoppala wants to stand but Anger is controlling his posture from full guard. Anger is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Kuoppala has his hands clasped together but Anger extends an breaks Kuoppala's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Anger.
