Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Rafael Figueroa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marco Chaves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Figueroa comes to the cage accompanied by Samba Pa Ti by Carlos Santana. Marco Chaves is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rafael Figueroa !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

5 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marco Chaves!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Edson Gomes and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chaves cracks the inside of Figueroa 's front leg.
Figueroa jabs at Chaves's body.
Chaves doesn't manage to clinch there - Figueroa circles away.
A combination from Figueroa does no damage.
Figueroa shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Chaves slips under a jab from Figueroa .
Chaves uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Figueroa .
Chaves avoids a punch combination nicely.
Chaves fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Chaves takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Chaves closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Rafael Figueroa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Figueroa gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Chaves counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Figueroa manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Figueroa trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Chaves is wriggling around trying to escape.
Figueroa pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Chaves wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Chaves is trying to break free.
Figueroa softening up his opponent with strikes here.
Chaves looks gassed!
Figueroa really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Chaves.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Figueroa wants to control but Chaves is keeping busy.
Figueroa is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Chaves has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Figueroa has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Chaves taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Figueroa doesn't care though - he's delighted!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Rafael Figueroa !
