Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Deamon Beat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dave Grohl!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Steve Smith and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beat shoots in for a double leg but Grohl sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Grohl looks to land a body kick but Beat moved away.
Beat shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Grohl pinned against the cage. Grohl gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Grohl jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Grohl lands with a right hand.
Grohl is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Grohl shoots for a double leg takedown but Beat sprawls well. He's pushed Grohl's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Grohl closes the distance and clinches.
Beat drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Deamon Beat. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Grohl drags the fight down to the ground.
Beat throwing strikes but missing.

Grohl is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Grohl is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Beat is aware though and is defending well.

Grohl has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Beat can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Beat thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Beat wants to control from the top but Grohl keeps moving.
Beat tries to free his leg and advance position but Grohl is retaining full guard.

Beat drops back, looking for a kneebar! Grohl looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Grohl looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Grohl!
Beat tries to escape but Grohl is in control.
Beat avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Grohl.
The ground and pound from Grohl seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Grohl prevents Beat from escaping the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Beat is looking for a sweep.

Grohl is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Beat has escaped the position, nice work there.
Beat can't do much from the bottom here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Beat misses with a takedown
and Grohl counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Beat is breathing heavily.
Beat with a lazy takedown attempt
enabling Grohl to counter with a crisp jab.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Grohl is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Grohl thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Grohl passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Grohl in side control, throwing shots but Beat defends.
Beat is trying to control Grohl's posture but Grohl avoids it.
Beat manages to get back to half guard.
Beat avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Grohl.

Grohl is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Beat has managed to free his arm - good work.
Beat pushes Grohl off looking to stand but Grohl dives back in and keeps control.
Grohl wants to control but Beat is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Beat trying to control but Grohl postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Beat is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Grohl's half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dave Grohl dominated that round.

Beat fails with the takedown
and Grohl counters with a one-two to the body.
Deamon Beat is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Beat clinches but Grohl breaks the clinch
and Grohl counters with a nice body shot.
Grohl lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Beat backs up against the cage.
Beat moves into range and connects with a jab.
Beat with a poor takedown

and Grohl counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Beat!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Grohl misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Grohl with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Beat is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Grohl looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Beat bucks Grohl off and manages to get back to his feet!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Grohl throws a series of punches but Beat moves out of range.

Grohl scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Beat is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Grohl off and has taken his back!

Beat looking for the choke but no joy.
Grohl looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
Beat is throwing strikes by Grohl counters by rolling into a better position. After a scramble, Grohl regains half guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Beat connects with a nice short shot to Grohl's temple.
Grohl is trying to control but can't.

Grohl is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Beat pulls his head out easily.

Beat is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Grohl is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
