Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between BJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Kyle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, BJ Penn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Adam Kyle! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Igor Prikhodko and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kyle misses with a straight right. Kyle throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Kyle defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Penn. Penn looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Kyle throws a nice looking combination but Penn bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. No joy there for Kyle, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Penn drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Penn grinds an elbow into Kyle's temple.
That's one minute gone in the round. Penn misses with an attempted head punch from side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kyle defending against the ground and pound. Sloppy strikes there by Penn. Penn is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kyle has escaped the position, nice work there. Penn tries to score with some ground and pound. Kyle controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Penn in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Penn throws a strike aimed at the side of Kyle's head but Kyle avoids it well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Penn tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Kyle stuffs the takedown attempt from Penn. Penn gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for BJ Penn. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kyle pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Kyle bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Penn's head. Adam Kyle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Penn gets the takedown into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Penn misses with the ground and pound. Kyle is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. The strikes coming from Penn are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Kyle managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Penn.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Kyle is working to avoid the ground and pound but Penn connects with a decent elbow. Penn throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Check out the look on Penn's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Penn misses with the ground and pound. Kyle parries the strikes from Penn easily there. Penn is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Kyle to escape.
Penn throws an elbow but Kyle slips to the side and avoids it well. Penn in side control, throwing shots but Kyle defends. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Penn looks up at the clock and then as Kyle takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Penn smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Penn has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Kyle! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Penn feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Penn has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Penn missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Kyle avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Penn is looking to work some ground and pound but Kyle has wrist control. Penn landing with the ground and pound. Penn keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kyle's head.

Penn is looking to work some ground and pound but Kyle has wrist control. Penn lands a couple of digs.

Penn wants to pass the guard but Kyle is keeping the position. Kyle preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Kyle avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Penn tries to free his leg and advance position but Kyle is retaining full guard. Penn scoring with punches to the head and body. Penn trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Penn shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Kyle is trying to stand.
Penn working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Kyle's thigh. Kyle counters though and makes it back to full guard. Kyle avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
BJ Penn dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

That's two minutes gone in the round. Penn postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Penn pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kyle is keeping the position for now. Penn throws a strike but Kyle rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Penn wants to sweep but no luck. Penn had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Kyle is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Penn Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Kyle's back instead. Penn punches the canvas rather than the man.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Can Kyle hold on?! Penn is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
Penn is looking to finish with some ground and pound! Kyle is trapped and Penn is scoring with shots to the head and body. Penn has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Kyle. Kyle is trying to escape under a series of strikes and manages to escape from Penn 's hooks. Penn throwing strikes here but Kyle is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

You get the feeling that Kyle really doesn't like being in this position too much.

And that's the end of the fight! BJ Penn showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Penn, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
