Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Boyd Rumbo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kurt Kobain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Boyd Rumbo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kurt Kobain!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Donatello Bradman and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kobain throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Rumbo.


It looks like Boyd Rumbo has been cut.
Rumbo could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Kobain rushes Rumbo and presses him up against the cage.
Kobain taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Rumbo tries to pull guard but Kobain holds him up against the cage and eventually Rumbo drops back down to his feet.
Rumbo misses with a body punch.

Kobain ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kobain no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Kobain has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Rumbo off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Rumbo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Kobain gets to his feet - Rumbo follows without any prompting.

and Kobain counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Kobain lands an elbow just above Rumbo 's eye.
Kobain goes for a takedown in the clinch but Rumbo prevents it.
Kobain keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Rumbo's efforts to push away.
Kobain has Rumbo pressed against the cage, preventing Rumbo from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Kobain tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rumbo smiles and moves away.
Boyd Rumbo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kurt Kobain.

and Kobain counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Rumbo's guard now.

Kobain decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

and Rumbo counters with a one-two to the body.

and Rumbo counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Rumbo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kobain keeps working.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kobain looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Boyd Rumbo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kurt Kobain.
Kobain stalks Rumbo and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Rumbo's face. Rumbo staggers backwards, shaken.
Rumbo tries to clinch up but Kobain circles away and keeps his distance.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rumbo on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rumbo tries to get out of the position.
Kobain cracks Rumbo with a solid left hand.
Kobain pushes down on Rumbo's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Rumbo is staying active underneath Kobain, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Kobain is looking for a kimura but Rumbo is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kobain to get the leverage.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kobain throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Rumbo blocking the ground and pound attempt from Kobain.

Kobain is working for a submission of some sort.
Kobain seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kobain closes the distance and pushes Rumbo back into the cage.

and Kobain counters with a nice body kick.

Rumbo throws a strike but Kobain rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Rumbo tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kobain wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Kobain wants to control but Rumbo is keeping him busy.

Kobain looks up at the clock and then as Rumbo takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Kobain smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Kobain has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Rumbo closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kobain did well to prevent Rumbo getting side control.
Kobain is on the bottom, trying to hold on to half guard. He's throwing a few small shots here, to keep his opponent honest.
Rumbo is thwarting Kobain's attempts to control the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Kobain tries to bum rush Rumbo with a series of wild strikes but Rumbo uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

I would just about give that final round to Kurt Kobain.
Well Kobain has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
