PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John DaSilva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clam Chowder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). DaSilva comes to the cage accompanied by Bullet the Blue Sky. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Clam Chowder!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Luis Engracia and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chowder fails with the takedown.
Chowder shoots in looking for a takedown. DaSilva tries to sprawl out of it but Chowder keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. DaSilva manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
DaSilva closes the distance and clinches up with Chowder, looking for a takedown. DaSilva pushes Chowder against the cage but Chowder circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
DaSilva shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Chowder sprawls well. Chowder wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. DaSilva gets slowly back to his feet.
DaSilva throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Chowder's waist but Chowder gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing DaSilva off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John DaSilva. That's going to take a lot out of him.
DaSilva shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Chowder shoots for a takedown but DaSilva saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

DaSilva shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Chowder's guard.

DaSilva stands up from Chowder's guard - DaSilva perhaps looking for a knockout.
John DaSilva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chowder shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

DaSilva is breathing heavily.
Chowder throws a body kick that misses.

Chowder is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

and DaSilva counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Chowder's guard now.
Chowder tries to land a sweep but no joy.

DaSilva stands up and waves to Chowder to follow him.
Chowder has his takedown stuffed

and DaSilva counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Chowder!
Chowder is desperately trying to improve his position but DaSilva has a good base and remains in mount.
Chowder really doesn't want to stay on the ground with DaSilva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

DaSilva has hold of Chowder's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Chowder manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

DaSilva is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Chowder has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Chowder!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chowder wants to get up but he can't break DaSilva's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

DaSilva is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Chowder defends well.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as DaSilva holds on and takes a little breather.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

DaSilva is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Chowder rolls with it to try and escape but DaSilva cranks on the arm and Chowder is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
