Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Diego Sanchez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ray Scott! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Alexandre Firmino and Luis Engracia.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Scott shoots in but Sanchez avoids the takedown attempt easily. Sanchez looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Scott scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

It looks like Diego Sanchez has been cut. Scott is looking to clinch. Scott throws a series of punches but Sanchez moves out of range. Jab from Scott. Some wild striking there from Scott.
Scott pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Scott fails with an attempt to clinch.
Scott fails with a takedown attempt. Scott throws a one two combo.

 That's one minute gone in the round. Sanchez has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Scott avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Sanchez tightens his grip and picks Scott up, before dumping him to the ground. Scott manages to land in guard. Sanchez stops Scott from standing up. Sanchez throwing strikes from guard but Scott blocks nicely. Sanchez is standing up over Scott. Scott looks to escape but Sanchez dives into side control.
Sanchez lands a nice forearm strike.
Sanchez wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Scott, who protects the arm well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sanchez is looking to take a break and control but Scott is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Scott can do anything to dispel that myth.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Scott is trying to buck Sanchez off. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Sanchez landing strikes. Scott is pushing Sanchez's head away, looking to escape. Sanchez manages to hold on to the position though. Sanchez scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Scott to see if he's OK.
Sanchez looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Sanchez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Sanchez advances to full mount.

Sanchez is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Scott has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Scott really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sanchez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Sanchez tries to control but Scott wriggling away. Scott can't escape the position.

That was a close round but I would say that Diego Sanchez will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Diego Sanchez's cut. That's time! Sanchez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Sanchez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Scott throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

The fight stays on the outside here - Sanchez looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Scott plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Scott scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sanchez closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Scott did well to prevent Sanchez getting side control. Scott throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Sanchez manages to pass to side control. Sanchez advances nicely into full mount. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Scott takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Sanchez landing punches. Scott is trying desperately to improve position.
Sanchez is standing up, even though he is in mount. Scott throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Sanchez fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Scott tries to bum rush Sanchez with a series of wild strikes but Sanchez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Sanchez takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Scott takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Sanchez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Scott is fending him off so far but Sanchez persists. Nope, Scott circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Diego Sanchez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sanchez tries to close the distance and clinch but Scott swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Sanchez circles away from the clinch attempt.

Sanchez's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Scott throws a left and a right that both miss
and Sanchez counters with a nice double leg into side control. Scott won't be happy with that. Sanchez prevents Scott from escaping the position. Sanchez trying to control the position but Scott is working away.
Sanchez tries for a kimura but Scott is defending well. Sanchez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Scott keeps working.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Sanchez scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Scott to see if he's OK. Scott managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Sanchez.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Sanchez cracks Scott with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Sanchez wants to finish this one by submission but Scott is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Sanchez.
Sanchez stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.

Sanchez stands up and we're back to a striking position.

 That's three minutes gone in the round. Scott wants to sweep here but Sanchez controlling him for the moment. Scott is looking to stand up but Sanchez isn't so interested in that idea. Sanchez pushing down on Scott's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Sanchez thows a huge punch but Scott dodges it nicely.
Sanchez decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Scott misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sanchez closes the distance and clinches. Scott tries for a takedown but Sanchez manages to get underhooks.
Sanchez drops down looking for an ankle pick but Scott pulls his leg out and moves away.
Scott throws a combination. Sanchez tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Scott throws a sloppy head kick
and Sanchez counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Sanchez decides to return to a standing position. Scott throws a combination that misses and Sanchez counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Scott circles away from the clinch attempt.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Sanchez blocks a head kick by Scott.
Sanchez closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sanchez lands in his opponent's guard. Ray Scott has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Diego Sanchez is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Scott wants to get back to his feet but Sanchez is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
And that's the end of the fight! Diego Sanchez showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sanchez, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
