The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
cuba closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. tornado did well to prevent cuba getting side control.
cuba trying to control the action but tornado is working from the bottom.
cuba is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, tornado has managed to free his arm - good work.
tornado wants to get back to full guard.
cuba is figuring out what he wants to do next.
cuba missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
tornado tries to roll over but cuba keeps him under control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
cuba gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
tornado is breathing heavily.
cuba working a defensive guard here.
cuba trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
cuba has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but tornado can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
cuba has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
tornado wants to control from the top but cuba keeps moving.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
cuba doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
tornado avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
cuba escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. tornado gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
cuba is looking for a triangle but tornado pushes his legs off easily.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

cuba had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. tornado is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. cuba Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take tornado's back instead.
tornado tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
johny cuba dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
tornado rushes cuba and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
tornado breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
tornado misses with a double jab.
cuba ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
tornado takes a shot to the body in his stride.
tornado gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and cuba counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for tornado!
tornado keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
cuba thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
cuba quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for cuba but it's paid off an tornado is forced to tap! Nice work by cuba.
