Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Juan Rua!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Heick Bolado!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Seu Braga and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rua wants it to stay on the feet.
Rua shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Bolado counters with a shoot takedown. Rua fights it but they end up in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bolado stopping the sweep attempt from Rua.

Rua has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bolado can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Bolado won't allow Rua to get back to his feet.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Rua utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Bolado has gone for a leg lock! Rua slips out almost immediately though and dives into Bolado's guard.
Bolado looking to control.

Bolado had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Rua is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Bolado Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Rua's back instead.
Rua rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Bolado is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rua is just riding it out for now. Bolado eventually gives up the hold.
Rua makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Rua.

Rua is looking for a triangle but Bolado pushes his legs off easily.

Bolado drops back, looking for a kneebar! Rua looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Rua looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Rua!
Rua is looking to take a break and control but Bolado is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rua is putting a hurting on Bolado here, landing some big shots from side control.
Rua looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Bolado is avoiding damage well.

Rua looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Rua tries for a kimura but Bolado is defending well.

Bolado tries to buck Rua off but Rua is having none of it.

Bolado is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Rua works to advance to full mount. Bolado defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Bolado is squirming around, avoiding Rua's attempts to control the action.
Rua prevents Bolado from getting the reversal.
Rua with a couple of short strikes.
Rua wants to control the pace but Bolado is squirming around nicely.
Rua lands with some strikes.

Rua gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Bolado should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Rua shoots and misses

and Bolado counters with a takedown into side control.
Rua is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Bolado wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Rua, who protects the arm well.
Rua tries to buck Bolado off but Bolado is having none of it.
Rua can't do much from the bottom here.
Rua sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rua tries to roll over but Bolado keeps him under control.
Rua controlling the position well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Juan Rua dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Rua shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bolado's guard.

Bolado is working an open guard so Rua takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Bolado shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Rua is trying to maintain the position but Bolado is very close to passing his half guard.
Rua regains full guard. Nicely done.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Bolado has eaten all the pies!

Rua is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Rua will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Rua is looking for a triangle but Bolado pushes his legs off easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Bolado drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bolado jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rua is on top in guard.
Rua wants to control from the top but Bolado keeps moving.
Bolado keeping full guard, as Rua tries to pass.
Rua is working hard here to advance position.
Rua trying to stand up but can't free himself from Bolado's guard.
Rua won't allow Bolado to sweep him here.
Rua stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bolado swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Rua passes Bolado's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Rua maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Bolado could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Rua has cracked it and Bolado is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Rua!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Juan Rua!
