7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rick Friday! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Friday rushes Carter and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Friday lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Carter's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Friday closes this distance looking for a takedown but Carter circles away. Friday rushes Carter and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Carter can't find room to land a body shot as Friday controls the action.
Friday tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Carter blocks an elbow strike from Friday.
Friday throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Friday pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Friday shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Carter defends it nicely. Carter looks to land a combination but Friday avoids it well. Friday fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Calvin Carter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rick Friday. Friday doesn't manage to clinch there - Carter circles away.

That's one minute gone in the round. Friday tries to clinch but Carter is having none of it. Carter slaps away a takedown attempt from Friday, before circling back to the center of the mat. Rick Friday seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Friday closes this distance looking for a takedown but Carter circles away. Friday tries to clinch but Carter moves out of range. Friday gets the takedown into side control. Friday is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Carter knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Carter is trying to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carter knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Friday on the ground. Friday wants to control but Carter is keeping him busy. Friday remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Friday tries to move to mount but Carter blocks the move with his legs.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Carter displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Friday. Friday uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Carter.
Friday defending well as Carter loads up on a big left hand. Carter jabs at Friday's body. Friday looks gassed! Carter throws a looping overhand right but Friday ducks down to avoid it. A punch combination from Carter misses. Carter keeps the fight on the outside.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carter misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Friday.
Friday defending well as Carter loads up on a big left hand. Friday will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Friday shoots in for a takedown but Carter shows good takedown defense. Carter rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Friday moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Carter misses with a low kick. Carter tries a low kick but Friday avoids it. Friday shoots for a double leg takedown but Carter sprawls well. He's pushed Friday's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Carter tries to bum rush Friday with a series of wild strikes but Friday uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Carter avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
The fight stays on the outside here - Friday looks like he's thinking about clinching though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carter lands a left and a right that send Friday crashing to the mat, dazed. Carter thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
It looks like Rick Friday has been cut. Friday wants to clinch. Friday is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Carter circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Friday to the canvas! Friday doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Carter keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
