PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between edgar lugo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edgar Minar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Minar's choice of entrance music: Pijemo ga radi. edgar lugo has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, edgar lugo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Edgar Minar!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Wagner Zegers and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Minar tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but lugo swivels and escapes.
Minar wants to clinch up but lugo keeps it at a distance.
Minar shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts lugo as he jumps to the side.
Minar throws out a leg kick but lugo moves out of range and Minar only half commits.
lugo throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Minar.
lugo misses with a double jab.
lugo is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Minar gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Minar is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. lugo is defending well for now.

Minar is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Minar prevents lugo from breaking the clinch.
lugo wants to break free but Minar has control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Minar breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Minar shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in lugo's guard.

Minar is looking to stand up but lugo won't let him.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
lugo is trying to control the position but Minar postures up.
Minar stands and throws lugo's legs to the side, diving into side control.
lugo avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Minar.
Minar misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Minar connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused lugo some visible discomfort.
lugo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Minar on the ground.

Minar is trying to get an arm triangle but lugo is defending well.

Minar tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Minar has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Minar is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but lugo is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Minar looks gassed!

The ground and pound from Minar seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
You can see the frustration on lugo's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
lugo is looking to reverse the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Edgar Minar dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


lugo will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Minar tries to score a power double leg takedown but lugo sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Minar somewhat.
lugo tries to clinch there but Minar circles away.
lugo throws a sloppy head kick and Minar moves out of range easily.

Minar misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
No luck for Minar with that takedown attempt.
edgar lugo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Edgar Minar.
Minar avoids the head kick by lugo.
Minar is breathing heavily.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Minar.
Minar trying to control the position but lugo is working away.

Minar in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
lugo takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Minar tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
lugo struggling a bit here.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
lugo is trying to get back to his feet.
An elbow from Minar crashes against the mat.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
lugo lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.


It looks like Edgar Minar has been cut.
A nice leg kick lands there from lugo.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from lugo. Minar shrugs it off though.
lugo bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
lugo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Nice body punch from lugo.
lugo moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
lugo goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
lugo throws out a powerful jab.
Minar shoots in for a takedown but lugo shows good takedown defense.
lugo throws a combination. Minar tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

lugo lands a left and a right that send Minar crashing to the mat, dazed. lugo thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Minar is rocked!
lugo ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Minar is still on wobbly legs! Can lugo finish him?
lugo feints a jab and as Minar dips his head, lugo unleashes a brutal head kick that catches Minar right on the jaw! Timbeeer! Minar falls backwards in slow motion, only propped up by the cage! lugo smiles a psychotic smile as he stares down his unconscious opponent. That is a scary man.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). edgar lugo!
