Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thomas OToole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hugh Rection (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Thomas OToole! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hugh Rection! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Donatello Bradman and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! OToole closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rection to the mat! Rection manages to get full guard. Rection trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! OToole postures up and lands a big shot to Rection's brow. OToole pushes down on Rection's leg and manages to get into half guard. OToole wants to control but Rection is keeping him busy. OToole controlling the pace. Rection is looking to improve his position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rection can do anything to dispel that myth. OToole seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rection does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. OToole sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Rection defending well though.
That's one minute gone in the round. OToole looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. OToole is trying to control the action in half guard but Rection is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Rection fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Rection tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Rection throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. The fight moves into the clinch position. OToole gets control of Rection's arms and successfully pulls guard. OToole will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Rection must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Rection wants to get up but he can't break OToole's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. OToole pushes Rection off and scrambles back to his feet.
OToole connects with a high kick. Rection looks gassed! OToole fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rection avoids it really well and circles away. OToole tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rection paws at him with a jab and circles away. OToole scores with a nice right hand.

Rection throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. OToole shoots in for a takedown but Rection shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Rection tries to close the distance and clinch up but OToole swats him away and circles back towards the center.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rection tries to clinch up. OToole gets the takedown into side control. OToole controls the position. Rection really doesn't want to stay on the ground with OToole. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. OToole scoring with punches and elbows. OToole prevents Rection from escaping the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. OToole decides to stand up, so the ref orders Rection to his feet. OToole tries to clinch there but Rection circles away.
Rection stuffs the takedown attempt from OToole. OToole gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thomas OToole. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rection moves into the clinch successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rection breaks from the clinch.
OToole defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Rection. A head kick misses from Rection. OToole throws a leg kick and Rection counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for OToole! OToole can't escape the position.
Rection can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as OToole is looking to escape. OToole working to try and regain half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Thomas OToole dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Rection tries to clinch and OToole counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Rection gets underhooks to prevent OToole's takedown attempt.
Rection is trying to drag OToole to the mat but OToole just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Rection breaks the clinch.
Rection is looking to clinch. Rection leaves OToole with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. OToole tries for a takedown but Rection sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thomas OToole. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rection misses with a takedown and OToole counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Rection's guard now. OToole controls from within his opponent's guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Rection is trying to control the position but OToole postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rection is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. OToole trying to control but Rection is working from the bottom. OToole looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Rection controlling the position. Rection is working an open guard so OToole takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. OToole clinches with his opponent.
OToole prevents Rection from breaking the clinch. OToole is trying to drag Rection to the mat but Rection just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Rection breaks from the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. OToole pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Rection tries to clinch there but OToole circles away.
Rection shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. OToole looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

OToole working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Rection. Rection is looking to stand up but OToole won't let him. Rection throws a big right hand that misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rection stopping the sweep attempt from OToole. OToole will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Rection has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of OToole is proving hard to escape from. OToole is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Thomas OToole dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Rection closes the distance looking to clinch and OToole finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Thomas OToole is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Rection is looking to take this fight into the clinch. OToole shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rection as he avoids it easily. Rection blocks a head kick by OToole.
OToole shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. OToole fails with the takedown and Rection counters with a two punch combo. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thomas OToole. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Rection closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. OToole tries to bench press Rection off him but Rection keeps the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. OToole struggling a bit here. OToole tries to improve position but can't. OToole dodges the ground and pound from Rection. OToole is trying to improve his position. OToole explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! OToole slaps away a takedown attempt from Rection, before circling back to the center of the mat. OToole rushes Rection and presses him up against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Rection pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. OToole moves into range and clinches up with Rection. OToole jumps into guard, dragging Rection to the mat.
Rection wanted to stand there but OToole had control of the position. OToole is trying to keep Rection in close.
Rection avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Rection preventing the sweep. OToole avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. OToole is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. OToole is working an open guard so Rection takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Rection darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. OToole holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. OToole regains full guard. Nicely done. OToole seems keen to control Rection's posture. OToole keeping full guard, as Rection tries to pass. OToole is trying to control the position but Rection postures up. OToole wants to stand up but Rection is controlling him. OToole looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rection is one step ahead there.
And that's the end of the fight! Hugh Rection comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think OToole has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
