Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rambo John J (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Victor Hawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Rambo John J has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rambo John J!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Victor Hawk!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, John Mangel and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from John J misses.
Jab, jab by John J - just one landing.
Hawk dives in and grabs John J's left leg, looking for a takedown. John J pushes down on Hawk's head and hops out.
John J throws a right and a left that Hawk avoids nicely.
Hawk throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Hawk moves away from the strike by John J.
Hawk shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says John J as he avoids it easily.
Hawk tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but John J swivels and escapes.
Rambo John J has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Victor Hawk.
John J shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hawk as he avoids it easily.
Hawk keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Hawk shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
John J has a hand on Hawk's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Hawk takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Hawk tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

John J tries to hold on but Hawk pushes him away.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hawk takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
John J tries to hold on but Hawk postures up.
Hawk tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
John J wants to control but Hawk is having none of it.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Hawk looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
John J uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hawk.
John J misses with a wild combination.
John J avoids a punch combination nicely.
John J throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Hawk moves into the clinch.
Hawk keeps control of John J as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Hawk breaks the clinch.

Hawk rushes John J and presses him up against the cage.
John J wants to break the clinch but can't.
John J has had enough of the clinch but Hawk keeps him there for the moment.

Hawk breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
John J connects with a body shot.
Hawk fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but John J avoids it really well and circles away.
Hawk throws a right hand that John J ducks under and follows up with a left that John J also avoids with ease.
Hawk looks gassed!
Nice sprawl there from John J as Hawk shoots in.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Victor Hawk dominated that round.
That's time! John J's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hawk.
Jab, jab by John J - just one landing.
John J throws a lazy right hand but Hawk sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Rambo John J is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hawk gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Nice defenses there by John J.
Rambo John J seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
John J stuffs the takedown attempt from Hawk. Hawk gets slowly back to his feet.
John J slips a straight right by Hawk.
Hawk walks into a jab.
John J is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
John J dives in and grabs Hawk's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hawk pushes down on John J's head and hops out.
John J bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
No luck for John J with that takedown attempt.
John J closes the distance and lands a one-two.
John J shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hawk defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rambo John J. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
John J rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hawk moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

John J misses with a jab, cross combination.
John J shoots in and drives through. Hawk sprawls well.

Hawk drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Hawk is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Hawk gets to his feet. John J looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Hawk shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hawk was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
John J is trying to stand up.

John J's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Hawk takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
John J wants to hold on but Hawk pushes him away.

Let's hope that Hawk has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hawk's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Despite being in the dominant position, Victor Hawk just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Hawk has closed the distance and engaged John J in a clinch.
John J has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

John J tries to circle away but Hawk has him pinned against the cage.

Hawk pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hawk tries for a takedown but John J sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
John J looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
John J throws a series of punches but Hawk avoids them all with ease.
John J lands with a right hand.
John J misses with a straight right.
John J slips a jab and a cross from Hawk.
Hawk throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around John J's waist but John J gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hawk off to one side.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rambo John J dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Hawk feints and as John J raises his hands in defense, Hawk changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hawk looks for a takedown but John J sprawls well.

John J throws a left and a right that both miss

and Hawk counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Hawk's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Hawk passes to full mount!

John J swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Hawk sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

John J is looking to improve his position but Hawk isn't that keen on the idea.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Rambo John J is winning the standup battle so far.
Hawk steps to the side to avoid the strikes from John J.
Hawk fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. John J looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Hawk looks for a takedown but John J sprawls well.
Hawk clobbers John J with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
John J scores with a jab.
John J throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
John J scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
John J fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Hawk misses with an uppercut.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hawk tests John J's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Hawk moves away from the strike by John J.
Hawk on the wrong end of a nice hook.

And that's the end of the fight!
Victor Hawk comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Hawk has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
