PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Frank Richlin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arthur Pendragon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pendragon has chosen Ghostface Killah - The Champ as his entrance music. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Richlin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Arthur Pendragon!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, John Roberts and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richlin throws a jab when Pendragon was well out of range.
Pendragon closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Frank Richlin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Richlin shoots for a double leg takedown but Pendragon sprawls well. He's pushed Richlin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Richlin tries to bum rush Pendragon with a series of wild strikes but Pendragon uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Richlin lands a nice shot that snaps Pendragon's head back.
Pendragon takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Richlin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pendragon's waist but Pendragon gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Richlin off to one side.

Richlin throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pendragon.

Richlin is trying hard to land a takedown here. Pendragon sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Richlin closes the distance and clinches up with Pendragon, looking for a takedown. Richlin pushes Pendragon against the cage but Pendragon circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Pendragon has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Richlin is proving hard to escape from.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Richlin is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Richlin takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Pendragon tries a head kick but it misses.
Richlin shoots in for a takedown but Pendragon shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Pendragon drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Frank Richlin will probably get the nod.
That's time! Richlin's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Richlin ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Pendragon moves away.
Richlin misses with an uppercut. Pendragon saw that one coming.
Richlin connects with a nice looking jab.

Richlin closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Pendragon is working to avoid the ground and pound but Richlin connects with a decent elbow.

Richlin throws an elbow but Pendragon slips to the side and avoids it well.

Pendragon is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Richlin thows a huge punch but Pendragon dodges it nicely.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Richlin shoots in looking for a takedown. Pendragon tries to sprawl out of it but Richlin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pendragon manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The fighters circling - Richlin throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Richlin throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Richlin fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Pendragon looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Pendragon defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Richlin.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Richlin fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pendragon manages to avoid it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Frank Richlin showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Richlin has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
