PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jummy Jammy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Malakai Dei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dei has chosen Kryptonite as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Malakai Dei was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jummy Jammy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Malakai Dei!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jammy avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Jammy scores with a one two! Dei had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Dei shoots in but Jammy avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Dei doesn't manage to clinch there - Jammy circles away.
Jammy stuffs the takedown.
Dei shoots in and drives through. Jammy sprawls well.
Jummy Jammy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Malakai Dei.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dei takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

and Jammy counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Jammy.

Jammy breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jammy connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

and Jammy counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Jammy digs a good hook to Dei's body.
Jammy keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

and Jammy counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Dei looks gassed!

Jammy lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Dei wants to clinch
and Jammy counters with a one-two to the body.
Dei throws a combination that misses
and Jammy counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Jammy fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Dei, pushing him back against the cage.
Dei wants a takedown but no success here.

Jammy breaks the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jummy Jammy dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Jammy counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Jammy throws a series of punches but Dei moves out of range.

Jammy fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dei sprawls well initially but Jammy persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Dei avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Jammy.
Dei pushes Jammy off looking to stand but Jammy dives back in and keeps control.
Jammy thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Dei's head.
Dei tries to kick Jammy off but Jammy keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
It looks like Jammy is going to stand back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Dei desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Jammy throwing shots but Dei is blocking nicely.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Dei fails with the takedown
and Jammy counters with a left to the body.
Jammy circles away from the clinch attempt
and Jammy counters with a nice uppercut.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Jammy closes the distance and clinches up with Dei, looking for a takedown. Jammy pushes Dei against the cage but Dei circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Jammy tries to land a front kick but Dei steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Dei shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Dei was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Jammy's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Dei is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Jammy is surviving well by controlling Dei's body position as best he can.

Dei in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

Dei looking to secure an arm triangle but Jammy defends it well.
Jammy knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dei on the ground.
Jammy wants to try and get back to his feet.

Dei looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Jammy's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dei is working for a guillotine from mount but Jammy frees his head quite easily.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Dei won't let Jammy get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Dei scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Jammy?
Dei takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Malakai Dei showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Malakai Dei seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Jammy manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Dei gets control of Jammy's arms and successfully pulls guard. Dei will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Dei is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Dei!
