PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alex Price (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wayne Osborne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Price comes to the cage accompanied by O Fortuna by Carl Orff. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alex Price!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Wayne Osborne!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, David Schapiro and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Price clinches.
Price can't get the takedown.
Price takes a knee to the side of the body.

Price gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Osborne is trying to stand up here but Price is controlling him well.
Price is looking to stall here but Osborne recovers full guard.
Price won't allow Osborne to get back to his feet.
Price trying to control but Osborne is working from the bottom.
Price is looking to work some ground and pound but Osborne has wrist control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Price stops Osborne from standing up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Price will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Price is breathing heavily.
Osborne wants to clinch

and Price counters with a nice double leg into side control. Osborne won't be happy with that.
Osborne is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Price has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Price is trying to ground and pound but Osborne uses the momentary lack of control by Price to regain half guard.
Price is trying to control the action in half guard but Osborne is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Osborne pushes Price off looking to stand but Price dives back in and keeps control.

Osborne kicks off Price and gets to his feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Osborne looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Osborne closes the distance looking to clinch

and Price counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Osborne's guard now.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Price trying to control the position from guard on top but Osborne is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Osborne wants to stand and escape but Price is having none of it.
Price trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Priceis looking to pass into half guard but Osborne pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Osborne is in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Price has a closed guard, preventing Osborne from standing up.
Price utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Osborne has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Price is proving hard to escape from.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Osborne tries to close the distance and clinch up but Price swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Osborne chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Osborne doesn't manage to clinch there - Price circles away.
Osborne tries to clinch but Price is having none of it.

Osborne moves into the clinch.
Price takes an elbow to the forehead.


It looks like Alex Price has been cut.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Osborne lands a knee to the head.

Osborne turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Osborne has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Wayne Osborne will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Alex Price's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Osborne tries to clinch but Price moves out of range.
Osborne darts in trying to clinch
and Price counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Osborne keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Osborne drives through and clinches with Price against the cage.
Osborne stalling in the clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Price.
Osborne lands a damaging elbow.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Osborne gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.


Alex Price's cut is getting worse.
Osborne lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Price looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Good body shot from Osborne.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Osborne tries a knee to the head but Price blocks it.
Osborne lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Osborne blocks an elbow strike from Price.
Price jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Osborne walks away with a smile on his face. Price gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Osborne tries to clinch up

and Price moves into the clinch.
Osborne is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Osborne obliges.
Osborne lands a hook to the side of the head.
Osborne connects with a knee to the head.


Price is rocked!
Osborne pressing his opponent against the cage.
Oh Price is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Osborne has Price pressed against the cage. He pushes Price back and as he springs towards him off the cage, Osborne throws a beautiful elbow that sends Price crashing to the floor! Osborne piles on the pressure with more strikes! Price is flailing away but he's not defending himself and the referee steps in to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Wayne Osborne!
