Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Skuomo Shiratori! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Vonatletzin Askiban! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Roosa Järviläinen and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A solid leg kick lands there for Shiratori.
Askiban looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Shiratori shoots in for a double leg but Askiban sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Shiratori misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Askiban keeps the fight on the outside. Askiban with a poor takedown and Shiratori counters with a head kick. Askiban fails with the takedown and Shiratori counters with a thumping low kick. A good leg kick by Shiratori. Shiratori pushes Askiban up against the cage in a clinch. Askiban keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Shiratori's efforts to push away. Shiratori looking for a takedown. Shiratori is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Askiban is defending well for now. Shiratori pressing his opponent against the cage. Shiratori with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Shiratori wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Shiratori goes for a takedown attempt but Askiban pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Skuomo Shiratori. That's going to take a lot out of him. Shiratori scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shiratori is looking to take a break and control but Askiban is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Askiban tries to improve position but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Shiratori is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Askiban will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Shiratori working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Shiratori looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Askiban is fending him off so far but Shiratori persists. Nope, Askiban circles away and we're back to standing. Shiratori throws a head kick that Askiban semi-blocks.
Askiban drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Shiratori is looking for a triangle here but Askiban uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Askiban tries to advance to mount but Shiratori denies him. Askiban is looking to take a break and control but Shiratori is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Askiban advances to full mount. Shiratori tries to hold on but Askiban pushes him away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Askiban tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Askiban trying to control but he's not successful this time. Shiratori tries to get back to half guard but can't. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Skuomo Shiratori dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Shiratori gets caught flat footed, as Askiban shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Shiratori tries to land a sweep but no joy. Askiban looking to sit in guard and control but Shiratori gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Askiban can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Shiratori controls the pace. Shiratori trying to control but Askiban is working from the bottom. Askiban utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shiratori tries to free his leg and advance position but Askiban is retaining full guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Shiratori trying to control but Askiban is working from the bottom. Askiban is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Shiratori postures up.
Shiratori has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Askiban closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Askiban works his foot free and advances to mount. Askiban controlling his opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Askiban can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Shiratori is looking to escape. Askiban is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Shiratori is trying to escape the mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Askiban tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Shiratori wants to hold on but Askiban pushes him away. Shiratori is squirming around, avoiding Askiban's attempts to control the action.
Despite being in the dominant position, Vonatletzin Askiban just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Shiratori fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Askiban avoids it really well and circles away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Shiratori lands a high kick!
Vonatletzin Askiban seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Askiban decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Askiban looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Askiban wants to control but Shiratori is keeping him busy. Askiban wants to advance to full mount but Shiratori doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Askiban preventing the sweep. Askiban sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Shiratori's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Vonatletzin Askiban showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Askiban tries to clinch but Shiratori moves out of range. Shiratori goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Shiratori has his takedown stuffed and Askiban counters by moving into the clinch. Askiban tries to score a body lock takedown but Shiratori shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Askiban gets underhooks to prevent Shiratori's takedown attempt.
Shiratori fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Skuomo Shiratori. That's going to take a lot out of him. Still in the clinch, Shiratori scores with a nice short uppercut. Shiratori gets control of Askiban's arms and successfully pulls guard. Shiratori will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Shiratori is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Shiratori throwing shots but Askiban is blocking nicely. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Askiban is trying to get back to full guard. Askiban is controlling Shiratori's trapped leg to prevent Shiratori from advancing to side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shiratori wants to take a breather but Askiban is having none of it. Askiban is trying to stand.
Askiban is looking for a sweep. Shiratori is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Shiratori missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Askiban works his way to full guard. Good work. Askiban looking to control.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Shiratori wants to get up but he can't break Askiban's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Askiban wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Shiratori is now in half guard. Shiratori prevents Askiban from improving his position.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Shiratori gets caught flat footed, as Askiban shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Askiban slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Shiratori keeping moving, preventing Askiban from controlling successfully. Askiban stays in close to Shiratori's body and controls the position. Askiban trying to control the position from guard on top but Shiratori is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Shiratori wants to stand and escape but Askiban is having none of it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Askiban works a leg free and moves into half guard. Shiratori tries to get to full guard but Askiban has control of the leg. Askiban is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Askiban slips a nice elbow through Shiratori's hands, connecting with Shiratori's forehead. Shiratori moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Shiratori escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Askiban gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Askiban preventing the sweep.
And that's the end of the fight! Vonatletzin Askiban comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Askiban has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
