PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rakul Meyels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quinton Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson has chosen Go Hard as his entrance music. Meyels has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Quinton Jackson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

and Jackson counters with a takedown into side control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Meyels is working to avoid the ground and pound but Jackson connects with a decent elbow.

Jackson decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Jackson shoots in but Meyels avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Meyels leaves Jackson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Rakul Meyels has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Quinton Jackson.
Jackson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jackson shoots for a double leg takedown but Meyels sprawls well. He's pushed Jackson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Meyels tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Quinton Jackson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Jackson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Meyels was covering up waiting for the punch and Jackson finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Well Jackson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
