Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between BJ Powers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kazuhiro Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kazuhiro Evans has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, BJ Powers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kazuhiro Evans! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Hirohito Nitta and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Evans fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Powers sprawls well initially but Evans persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Powers regains full guard. Nicely done. Powers escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Evans gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Powers is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Evans wants to pass the guard but Powers is keeping the position. Powers is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Powers is breathing heavily. Powers working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Evans doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Evans manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's one minute gone in the round. Evans working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Evans wants to pass the guard but Powers is keeping the position. Evans wanted to stand there but Powers had control of the position. Powers working for a triangle but Evans defends it easily.
Evans must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Evans got a little sloppy there for a moment and Powers has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Evans has managed to get both his arms back between Powers's legs - danger averted.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Evans trying to control but Powers is working from the bottom. Evans throws a big right hand that misses. Evans wants to control from the top but Powers keeps moving. Powers is looking for a triangle but Evans pushes his legs off easily.
Powers has momentary wrist control but Evans slips an elbow through the middle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Evans is in close to Powers's body, working some short punches and elbows. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Evans's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Powers is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Evans defends well. Powers had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Evans is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Powers Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Evans's back instead. Evans holding both Powers 's hands and preventing any damage. Evans is trying escape back to his feet. He turns into his opponent's guard and eventually finds his way back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Powers feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Powers stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Evans swivels though and keeps the full guard. Evans wants to get back to his feet but Powers is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Powers is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Powers drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Evans manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Powers has Evans in his guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Evans tries for a takedown but Powers circles away easily and Powers counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Powers drops back, looking for a kneebar! Evans looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Evans looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Evans! Powers parries the strikes from Evans easily there. Evans is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Powers to escape.
Evans tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Powers manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Powers is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Evans pulls his head out easily. Evans really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Powers. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Evans tries to stand and escape but Powers is controlling the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Evans is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Powers is just riding it out for now. Evans eventually gives up the hold. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Powers actively working from the bottom here. Powers looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. BJ Powers overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Powers looking for submissions off his back. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Evans trying to control the action but Powers is working from the bottom. Powers actively working from the bottom here. Powers actively working from the bottom here. That's three minutes gone in the round. Powers looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Evans winds up and cracks Powers with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Powers looking for submissions off his back. Powers looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Evans pushes past his half guard into mount! Evans lands a big shot there that rocks Powers but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Powers working to try and regain half guard.
Powers is working hard here to advance position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Powers gets back to half guard. Evans tries to stand and escape but Powers is controlling the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Powers feints and as Evans raises his hands in defense, Powers changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Evans striking off his back but it's not causing Powers any problems. Powers stops Evans from standing up. Powers has gone for a leg lock! Evans slips out almost immediately though and dives into Powers's guard. Evans throwing strikes but missing. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Evans accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Evans got a little sloppy there for a moment and Powers has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! That was a close round but BJ Powers did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Kazuhiro Evans seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Evans gets a takedown into half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Powers manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Powers has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Evans should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Powers has tightened it up now! Evans should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
