Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Hetfield (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and usman ali (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
ali dives in and grabs Hetfield's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hetfield pushes down on ali's head and hops out.
ali gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Hetfield shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Hetfield changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. ali looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Hetfield knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for ali on the ground.
ali seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

ali is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Hetfield sees it coming and defends easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Hetfield rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but ali moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hetfield accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
ali has his foot on Hetfield's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hetfield works his way back into a safe position though.
James Hetfield is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
