Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kyle Wood! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lance Stevens! The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stevens swats away the attempt to clinch by Wood. Wood is looking to clinch. Wood wants to clinch up but Stevens keeps it at a distance. Wood fails with an attempt to clinch.
Wood tries to clinch but Stevens is having none of it. Stevens shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Wood's guard. Stevens tries to free his leg and advance position but Wood is retaining full guard. Stevens throwing strikes but missing. Wood wants to stand but Stevens is controlling the position. Wood wants to get back to his feet but Stevens passes into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stevens stops Wood from getting back to his feet.
Stevens missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Stevens uses his free foot to push down on Wood's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Wood. Stevens tries to control but Wood wriggling away. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Stevens cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
It looks like Kyle Wood has been cut. Wood on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Wood tries to get out of the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stevens lands a nice shot to the head. Wood knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stevens on the ground. Stevens is in the full mount, landing strikes. Stevens tries to control but Wood wriggling away. Stevens with the ground and pound from mount.
Wood is rocked! Stevens takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Oh Wood is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Stevens is landing with some decent strikes but Wood is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Kyle Wood's cut is getting worse.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stevens with a couple of short strikes. Wood might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Stevens lands with some strikes. Wood in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Kyle Wood's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. Wood is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Stevens locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Wood is forced to tap!
