PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Pienaar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bryce Daniels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Daniels has chosen Young Forever as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Pienaar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bryce Daniels!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick from Daniels lands but Pienaar takes it in his stride.


It looks like John Pienaar has been cut.
A punch combination from Pienaar misses.
Daniels moves out of range of the body kick from Pienaar.

Daniels moves into the clinch successfully.
Daniels connects with a knee to the head.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Pienaar wants to stall.
Daniels stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Pienaar as Daniels tries to tie him up.
Pienaar wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Daniels has him pressed against the cage.
Daniels lands a nice elbow.
Pienaar tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Pienaar prevents a takedown attempt there.

Pienaar fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Daniels avoids it really well and circles away.

Daniels closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Pienaar to the mat! Pienaar manages to get full guard.

Daniels prevents Pienaar from getting back to his feet.

Daniels stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Pienaar gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Pienaar is looking to stand up but Daniels isn't so interested in that idea.
Pienaar is breathing heavily.
Daniels trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Daniels chips away with some ground and pound.
Daniels wants to pass the guard but Pienaar is keeping the position.

Daniels seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Daniels wants to control from the top but Pienaar keeps moving.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Daniels fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Pienaar darts in trying to clinch

and Daniels counters with a nice double leg into side control. Pienaar won't be happy with that.
Daniels wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pienaar keeps working.
Pienaar is trying to escape the position but Daniels is controlling the position.

Daniels gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
John Pienaar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Daniels shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Pienaar's guard.

Pienaar wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Daniels lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Daniels is looking to take a break and control but Pienaar is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Pienaar wants to improve his position but Daniels is controlling well.

Daniels is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Pienaar!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Daniels connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Daniels stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nice straight punches there by Pienaar. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Pienaar.

Daniels forces Pienaar back against the cage and clinches.
Daniels is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bryce Daniels dominated that round.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Daniels scores a takedown into full mount!

Daniels is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Pienaar is surviving well by controlling Daniels's body position as best he can.
Pienaar bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Pienaar chips away with some ground and pound.

Daniels manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pienaar manages to get himself to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Daniels lands a couple of elbows.

Pienaar throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Daniels wants to control from the top but Pienaar keeps moving.
Daniels is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Pienaar manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Daniels manages to get himself to full guard.

Pienaar escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Daniels has taken the fight to the clinch.

Pienaar has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Daniels wants a takedown.
Daniels crunches a lovely knee into Pienaar's ribcage.

Daniels tries to stall but Pienaar uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Pienaar tries to throw a body punch but Daniels avoids it by throwing Pienaar back against the cage.
Daniels drops down looking for an ankle pick but Pienaar pulls his leg out and moves away.

A combination from Pienaar does no damage.

Daniels gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Pienaar wants to break free but Daniels has control.
Pienaar trying to stall but Daniels improves his position.
Daniels lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Daniels has a closed guard, preventing Pienaar from standing up.
Daniels is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Pienaar wants to stand but Daniels has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Daniels wants to sweep but no luck.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bryce Daniels showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Daniels closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Pienaar to the mat! Pienaar manages to get full guard.
Daniels tries to free his leg and advance position but Pienaar is retaining full guard.

Pienaar is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Daniels makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Daniels.

Daniels had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Pienaar is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Daniels Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Pienaar's back instead.

Daniels is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Pienaar up.
Pienaar looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
Pienaar wants to control his opponent's hands but Daniels gets his hands free.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Daniels working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Pienaar is doing well to defend. Daniels seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Pienaar is forced to tap and this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Bryce Daniels!
