Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Wallhead (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Taylor comes to the cage accompanied by Dismembered. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Jim Wallhead enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jim Wallhead!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Richard Clark and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wallhead shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Wallhead is going olschool here, as he tries to force Taylor to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Taylor shrugs it off.
Taylor tries to hold on but Wallhead postures up.

Wallhead jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Taylor is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Taylor and Wallhead has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Wallhead is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Taylor knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Wallhead is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Taylor is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Taylor moves into range and clinches up with Wallhead.
Wallhead tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Taylor smiles and moves away.

Taylor throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Taylor connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wallhead throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Taylor's waist but Taylor gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Wallhead off to one side.
Taylor throws a sloppy head kick and Wallhead moves out of range easily.
No joy there for Taylor, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Taylor throws a head kick that Wallhead semi-blocks.

Taylor lands a jab-cross combination.
Wallhead avoids the head kick by Taylor.
Taylor throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Wallhead.

Taylor gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Taylor pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Taylor tries a head kick but it misses.
Wallhead looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
John Taylor has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jim Wallhead.
Taylor lands with a kick to the temple. Wallhead shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Taylor seems to be working for a kimura but Wallhead defends the submission attempt.

Taylor is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Wallhead can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Taylor throws a head kick but Wallhead moves out of range.
Taylor lands a nice leg kick that just misses Wallhead's sensitive parts.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Taylor lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Wallhead backs up against the cage.

Wallhead drops back, looking for a kneebar! Taylor looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Taylor looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Taylor!
Taylor wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wallhead keeps working.
Wallhead manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Taylor is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Wallhead's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Wallhead's back!

Taylor has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Wallhead has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Wallhead is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Taylor is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Wallhead is defending well though. Taylor let's go of the attempt for now.

Taylor is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Wallhead has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Even with his hooks in, Taylor manages to miss with strikes from the back.
Wallhead tries to escape but Taylor has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Taylor is trying to stick to Wallhead's back but Wallhead is turning into Taylor. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Taylor's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Wallhead.

Taylor tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Taylor has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Taylor throws a strike aimed at the side of Wallhead's head but Wallhead avoids it well.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Wallhead avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Taylor dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Wallhead closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Taylor to the mat! Taylor manages to get full guard.

Taylor is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Taylor works over Wallhead with some ground and pound from guard.

Wallhead has his foot on Taylor's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Taylor works his way back into a safe position though.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Both fighters circling a little - Taylor finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Taylor throws a right and a left that Wallhead avoids nicely.
Taylor tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Taylor throws a front kick that sends Wallhead stumbling back into the cage.
Wallhead stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Taylor.

Taylor closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Wallhead did well to prevent Taylor getting side control.

Wallhead is refusing to be controlled, as Taylor sits in half guard.

Taylor looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

John Taylor is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Taylor seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
