PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Angus Fraser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Thunder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fraser kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Bar Room Hero - Dropkick Murphy's. The key to victory for Angus Fraser has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Richard Clark and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fraser scores with a takedown into Thunder's guard.
Thunder controlling Fraser's posture.
Thunder wants to sweep here but Fraser controlling him for the moment.

Thunder looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Fraser cracks Thunder with a solid left hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Thunder is trying to keep Fraser in close.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fraser won't allow Thunder to get back to his feet.
Fraser postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Thunder keeping moving, preventing Fraser from controlling successfully.

Thunder has his feet on Fraser's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Thunder moves into the clinch successfully.

Fraser breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Fraser tries a head kick but it misses.

Thunder shoots in and bounces Fraser off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Thunder not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Thunder prevents Fraser from getting back to his feet.
Thunder slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Thunder has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Fraser is proving hard to escape from.

Fraser can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Thunder controls the pace.

Thunder is looking to advance position but Fraser won't allow it.
Thunder is taking a breather. Fraser says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Fraser wants to get back to full guard.
Thunder wants to pass the guard but Fraser is defending well.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Thunder counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Thunder.
Fraser throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Thunder trying to control but Fraser is working from the bottom.
Fraser wants to stand and escape but Thunder is having none of it.
Thunder not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Fraser is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Fraser striking off his back but it's not causing Thunder any problems.

Thunder wants to control from the top but Fraser keeps moving.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Horrible takedown by Fraser or perhaps it was just good defense by Thunder which made him look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Angus Fraser. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Thunder takes the fight into the clinch.

Thunder escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Fraser throws a series of punches but Thunder avoids them all with ease.

Fraser looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Thunder!
Fraser lands a big shot there that rocks Thunder but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Thunder is in all sorts of trouble here.

Thunder is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Fraser sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Fraser avoids the attempt from Thunder to control.
Fraser can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Thunder is looking to escape.
Thunder slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Fraser trying to pass the guard but Thunder defending well.

Thunder is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Thunder is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Thunder flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Fraser is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Thunder is holding on to half guard well.
Fraser wants to stand up but Thunder is controlling the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Thunder shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Thunder looking to control and managing it successfully.
Fraser can't escape the position.

Thunder takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Thunder scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Fraser?
Fraser is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Thunder controlling the pace for now.
Let's hope that Thunder has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Fraser is looking to improve his position but Thunder isn't that keen on the idea.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Jack Thunder comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Thunder has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
