The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newton decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Silva is refusing to be controlled, as Newton sits in half guard.
Newton perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Newton wants to lay and pray for a moment but Silva keeps working.
Silva trying to control from the bottom.
Newton looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Silva wants to control but Newton is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Newton passes the guard and advances to mount!

Newton can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Silva is looking to escape.

Silva tries to hold on but Newton pushes him away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Newton is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Silva has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Newton is looking to defend but Silva has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Newton! Silva pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Newton taps out and this one is all over!
