Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lucas Carvalho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Max Powers!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Leandro Rodrigues and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Powers decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Powers is looking to take a break and control but Carvalho is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Powers prevents Carvalho from standing back up.
Powers throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Carvalho is staying active underneath Powers, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Carvalho avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Powers.
Carvalho is trying to stand.

Powers decides to return to a standing position.
Carvalho throws a series of punches but Powers moves out of range.
Lucas Carvalho seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carvalho throws a right hand that Powers ducks under and follows up with a left that Powers also avoids with ease.
Carvalho throws a right and a left that Powers avoids nicely.
Powers ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Carvalho throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Powers.
Powers closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Powers uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Carvalho.

Powers drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Powers is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Powers pushing down on Carvalho's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Carvalho is trying to stand up here but Powers is controlling him well.
Powers is keen to just control but Carvalho is a slippery customer.
Powers with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Powers prevents Carvalho from standing back up.
Powers seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Carvalho does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Carvalho is trying to stand up here but Powers is controlling him well.
Powers takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Powers working Carvalho over with strikes.
Carvalho pushes Powers off looking to stand but Powers dives back in and keeps control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Carvalho lands with a hook. Powers tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Carvalho pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
No joy there for Carvalho, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Carvalho misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Powers.
Powers looks for a takedown but Carvalho sprawls well.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Powers.
Carvalho takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Carvalho parries the strikes from Powers easily there. Powers is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Carvalho to escape.
Powers moves into full mount!
Carvalho wants to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Carvalho is bucking up trying to escape but Powers cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
You get the feeling that Carvalho really doesn't like being in this position too much.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carvalho is breathing heavily.
Carvalho is squirming around, avoiding Powers's attempts to control the action.
Powers is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Carvalho can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Powers lands a big elbow.
Carvalho is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Poor strikes thrown by Powers there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Carvalho really wants to buck Powers off and get back to his feet.

Powers can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Carvalho is looking to escape.

Powers throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Carvalho has his hands clasped together but Powers breaks the hold and Carvalho is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Powers!
