Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Drake Belic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Durland (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Drake Belic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe Durland!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Durland as Belic shoots in.
Belic shoots in for a takedown but Durland shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Belic tries for a takedown but Durland sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Drake Belic. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Durland displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Belic.
Durland jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Belic throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Durland's waist but Durland gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Belic off to one side.
Belic shoots for a double leg takedown but Durland sprawls well. He's pushed Belic's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Durland has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Belic can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Belic wants to pass the guard but Durland is keeping the position.

Durland working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Belic doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Belic manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Durland wants to sweep but no luck.

Durland had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Belic is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Durland Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Belic's back instead.

Durland is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Belic knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Belic for a finish.

Durland is working for a guillotine from mount but Belic frees his head quite easily.

Durland fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
You get the feeling that Belic really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Durland has hold of Belic's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Belic manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Durland is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Belic is surviving well by controlling Durland's body position as best he can.

and Durland counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Durland drops back looking for a leg! Belic is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Belic manages to kick Durland off! Durland jumps back into Belic's guard.
Belic is looking to stand up but Durland isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Joe Durland showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Belic is trying to stand up here but Durland is controlling him well.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
