Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chris Nick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and kody smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nick has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
smith fails with a takedown attempt.
smith gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
smith manages to break the clinch.
Nick fails with the takedown
and smith counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
smith breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Nick misses with a takedown
so smith counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Nick is breathing heavily.
Nick keeping full guard, as smith tries to pass.
smith trying to control the position from guard on top but Nick is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

smith gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
smith closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Nick is not content to let smith control the position.
A lull in the action here as smith stalls from top position.
smith decides to take the fight back to the feet.
smith rushes Nick and presses him up against the cage.

smith is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Nick can't fight it off and eventually smith manages to take the fight to the floor. Nick looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Nick can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as smith controls the pace.
smith gets to his feet - Nick follows without any prompting.

Nick wants to sweep but no luck.

and Nick counters with a series of strikes. smith will be more careful next time no doubt.

and smith counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Nick!

Nick sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
smith postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Nick looks a forlorn figure.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Nick shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and smith counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

smith looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
smith with the ground and pound but Nick regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Nick utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
smith stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nick swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Nick looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! smith has picked Nick up and slammed him! Nick can't keep hold of the triangle and smith manages to pass to side control!
Nick tries to get back to half guard but can't.
smith tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Nick wants to get back to his feet.

kody smith showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Nick tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Chris Nick is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
smith tries to clinch up but Nick circles away and keeps his distance.
Nick has his takedown stuffed
and smith counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Nick is lucky that one didn't land flush.
smith looks for the body kick but Nick saw that one coming.
smith scores with a takedown into Nick's guard.
smith postures up in Nick's guard and throws a big left but Nick blocks it.

smith shoots in looking for a takedown. Nick tries to sprawl out of it but smith keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nick manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Nick darts in trying to clinch
and smith moves into the clinch.
smith gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Nick is working an open guard so smith takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

smith shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Nick is trying to defend but smith finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Well smith has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
